Hi everyone,

Our site had about 2000 hits this weekend, but only one person signed up for our newsletter. How can I make it more appealing?

We're considering offering a free month's membership to one of the dating services on our site, hoping that would encourage people to opt-in.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Jennifer

Instead of "Meet Us" in a typestyle that is very hard to read at the top of your newsletter column, try "Free Ebook & Newsletter" and put the "meet us" lower ... give it more prominence, it should increase the results.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Also going to work on the typeface...just the 100th thing on a very long list! Smile

I'm also going to try the contest idea and see what happens. Made my first sale today, so I'm thrilled!

Hi Jen

Congratulations on your first sale! Very Happy

My site is new and I'm currently getting only about 350 visitors a week, and I'm averaging 4 newsletter sign-ups each week. I'm a newbie at this, but I think over 10% is a fairly good opt-in rate.

What I did is "sell" my free newsletter with just about as much effort as my ebook. Here's the link if you want to check it out:

http://www.best-interview-strategies.com/career-life-times.html

Another thing I did was put a newsletter sign-up box on EVERY PAGE of my site. (I know you've already done that, but for other readers of this post, I think that's a very important step they should know about.)

I hope this helps... I'm sure you'll have a thriving list in no time!

Bonnie,

Thanks for the tip! I've got a contest going right now, so we'll see if that generates more interest. I'll work on "selling" it more...that's a great idea.

Thanks again!
