Post subject: Frustrated with dating site affiliate links!
|
|
|
Hi. I am the Webmaster of the UK dating site, A Beautiful Date, at www.abeautifuldate.co.uk . I want to tell everybody how utterly FED UP and FRUSTRATED I am with constantly trying to make money promoting affiliate dating sites. Time and time again, I have tried EVERY METHOD UNDER THE SUN, from text links to banner ads, to large stand-alone creatives of the dating site concerned. And yet, I have not made a single penny with these programs. It is very annoying and disheartening!
Now I have set up my own dating site at www.abeautifuldate.co.uk . But even with that, I am not making any money. I bought some dating software from an auction site, which is PHP driven, and although it has made my site look more professional looking, I have yet to attract one single paid member!
Please can somebody somewhere tell me exactly where am I going wrong? Is it because I have made my dating site too general, and so should try a niche site (e.g. a dating site for models or summat?)
Please help me before I grow COMPLETELY disheartened, scrap all my affiliate schemes, dating sites etc - and chuck my computer out the window in utter disgust!!!!!
[Steady on! I've edited your all-in-capitals heading to lower case. Some folk think that writing in capital letters is SHOUTING! I've also put a space after your URL before the fullstop. Admin.] _________________ Scousero

Hi Scousero,
I tried to have a peep at your site, unfortunately it is not loading at this time.
Ros Gardner has a lot of success with dating sites as you probably know, and claims that there is still plenty of room in the market. I don't know, I've never investigated it, but it has always struck me that there are an awful lot of them.

I'm guessing, but I would think that the more niche your dating site is the better chance it would stand. I'm a 50 something bloke who has seen plenty of dating sites but, being cynical in my old age, has never joined one. How would you target me? How would you convince me that you could find a match? Where would you promote your site to reach me?
How about a thirty something single mum who can rarely get out, how would you set out to appeal to her?
Is there any way that you could offer a local service coupled with the anonymity of the 'net?
Sorry I can't be any more helpful.
All the best,
Larry Chamberlain. _________________ Why Do Most Affiliates Make Less Than $500 Per Month?

Hi, Larry.
Thanks for the advice on my frustrations with dating site links. The reason why my site is not loading at present is that - yet again! - I am in the throes of uploading a FRESH dating script in the hope that this will be the one that will make me money. (But I can dream, can't I....). Not very hopeful, but . . .
As regards promoting niche sites, you are so right in your suggestions as to how best to promote it to a specific market. The dating site game is over-saturated, unfortunately, and so you have to try and think of something really new, which is not easy, of course. It is just like trying to think up an original story for a novel or a screenplay, which I have also tried and have become really bored, as everything seems to have been done before.
I know about Rosalind Gardner. I get her NPC newsletter sent to me each month. I would love her Affiliate book, but cannot afford it at present. |

Hi Scousero,
Dream and stay positive.
Have you read Ken Evoy's Free affiliate course over a few times and followed his advice?
You mention getting Rosalind Gardner newsletter.
I know it's very easy to get side tracked and not follow what the experts like Ken, Rosalind, James Martell teach But the ones who follow their advice to the tee are succeeding.
Here is Rosalind's Feb. newsletter that you may want to read over about ideas for nichy niches in the dating industry.

Re-reading Ken's Free affiliate course might help you re-think your site(s) theme and strategies.
Just my thoughts
All the best

Scousero, Let's see if I've got this right...
You've failed to make money promoting dating sites and so now you're trying to sell software to help people set up their own dating sites.
Surely you see the irony in this?
Start again, right from the beginning. Re-read Ken's free Affiliate Masters Course and think about it carefully before you do something so silly again. _________________ Allan Gardyne
