It appears phpBB is about to be released in a new version, called Olympus, that will be search engine friendly "out of the box" with no modifications necessary.
As best I could tell, release is predicted end of February beginning of March.
I didn't look at the other features enough to say whether it will be worth it to upgrade or not. Best guess for a large forum like this would be, if it aint' broke don't fix it. At least for awhile.

With SEs now indexing URLs with paramters much easier, not much really has to be done with current versions of PHPBB, apart from removing SIDs. |
