Post subject: Amateurish site with good traffic, REALLY use some guidance!
|

Hello!
Funny that i've been a subscriber and contributor to Allan's Associate programs from virtually the start - and never taken advantage of what his readers could do for ME:
Take a quick look at my amateurish site
There are about 1000 pages in total
Generates around 4-5,000 visitors a day
Sells virtually nothing - maybe 4 or $500 in afiiliate commissions a month
Most of the revenue from google
I've GOT TO be able to generate as much from my site as the guys throwing classified ads on the side!!!!!!LOL
I VERY MUCH appreciate any advice, guidance - even if its just to say "looks like its been thrown together by a monkey!!"LOL
THANKS
Andrew Larder

Hello,
I've taken a look at your site and I have a few suggestions.
At first glance the site doesn't look very appealing to me. To tell you the truth, if I was looking for information about real estate investing and I stumbled upon your site, I would scroll not even half way down your site before clicking back or exiting out of it. It just appears that everything is thrown together. This is not meant to be discouraging to you, its just what needs to be worked on.
One main suggestion I would give to you is to get a website template to use. They are only $30-$50 and they will give your site a professional look. I'm not sure what you are using to build your webpage, but Microsoft's Frontpage or Macromedia's Dreamweaver are both great programs for building pages and you can easily download templates for them.
I would say that a majority of your traffic that you receive does not stay on your page to look around. They simply leave. So mainly work on having your site look more professional and your guest will love to look around. As an example of a template being used is one of james martells sites I was looking at earlier... http://www.garage-doors-n-openers.com
Goodluck and I hope to see improvements made on your site soon! |

Is it possible that you're misreading your site statistics? I clicked on the Extreme Tracking logo on your main page, and if I'm reading the stats correctly, your site had 952 unique visitors last month, and has an average of 33 visitors a day, or 916 visitors a month.
That would mean you're earning $400 to $500 a month from about 900 visitors, which is a very nice visitor to sales ratio. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Hello Andrew!
I looked at your site, and at first glance, it looks like a haphazard collection of ads thrown onto a page. Because I was there for a reason, I actually scrolled down (WAY down) and saw the real content. Most people who are doing some casual browsing or who are actually looking for information will probably not make it down to the real content... they will take a glance, see all of the ads, then click the "back" button.
As a rule of thumb, you need to grab the visitor's attention within the first 5-10 seconds of their visit. If they don't see something of interest, then they're gone.
I recommend moving the real content near the top of the page, and I also recommend removing all ads which are not directly related to the content of your page. Google Adsense ads are incredible because they automatically match what is displayed on your page, and if you adjust the colors of the ads, then they almost look like content, rather than ads! If you can place the ads close to your content or actually within your content, then they can be very effective! With their high effectiveness, there is almost no reason to have any other ads on your site!
Take a look at my site, the Ebay Sellers Report (http://www.ebaysellersreport.com), for an example of how to place Google ads, as well as relevant content, near the top of the page, and how the coloring of the ads almost makes them blend in with the informational content.
Good luck!

Hi Andrew,
Yep, I agree with the other replys, just too much ads. One thing I noticed was that your homepage has a size of 487.4 KB with all the images. Even though by the time I scrolled all the way down everything loaded but that might not be the case for everyone. I'm considered a newbie in building pages but a read somewhere that said to keep a page under 30KB. If any experts know what the recommended page size is, please let me know.
Eric
PS: BTW, I checked your page with the tool at http://www.fixingyourwebsite.com/drhtml.html for the size |

Eric has a good point, Andrew.
When designing a webpage / website, it's a VERY good idea to keep in mind that most people will probably be accessing your page through a dial-up internet connection. Web pages which have many banners (or ANY type of graphics / images) will take a long time for dial-up users to download.
Long download times = annoyed visitors = lost visitors.
Good Luck!

You really should bring some order into this site.
After installing some templates ( as mentioned before ) start writing good headlines to grab your readers attention. Then lead them further into your site.
Move the articles to the top, so the reader (and the SEs) can see them earlier. Adnvantage here: satisfied reader and more content indexed by SEs (which results in more free traffic from the SEs)
And please switch off the annoying exit popup _________________ Explore The Most Up to Date Site About How to Succeed with Adwords! |
