Yes, you've been dropping tantalizing hints about some giant site you're building that goes head to head on very competitive keywords. I've been reading them patiently hoping that someday you'll slip up and spill the beans. Seriously, I really like the info you provide on people who are succeeding outside the netbiz info field (your rupert stories etc) so anything you care to share along those lines will always be welcome here.
As for diversifying as protection against change etc. Maybe it would be wise for many of us to first learn the game from the affiliate side, and then go on to produce our own products and run our own affiliate programs. Kind of affiliate biz grad school. I realize many here are already doing that, and would enjoy learning more about their progress.
I'll check it out, monetizing a travel site is surely on topic for me these days.
Glad to see you here all the time Allan, your board is a great resource. _________________ Free Forum And Ezine Hosting

Allan, I visited the site you suggested above. Thanks! Very relevant to what I'm doing at the moment. Wow, no kidding, New Zealand is a mind blower, especially to a flat lander Floridian like myself.
You have so many beach houses I've lost track of you. Where are you again?
It's helpful to see all the principles being discussed here applied to a site so similar to the one I'm working on. Appreciate the heads up. _________________ Free Forum And Ezine Hosting

In the future
the open source and free SE developed by the ODP team, will be the number one SE. Greater than Yahoo and Google.
So submit now, http://www.mozdex.com/en/addurl.html
The SE is still in early beta, with a funny SERP.

Joanna and I have an apartment overlooking Golden Beach, Queensland, Australia, and a little cottage overlooking the harbor at Dunedin, New Zealand, for the warmer months. Our property on the hill above Tomahawk Beach, Dunedin, is still just bare land, so far. One day we'll do something with it.

You're welcome. I think this is a really good example of how you can get inspired and spread enthusiasm if you write about a topic you feel passionate about. Perhaps it's time for me to start a travel site, too! _________________ Allan Gardyne

Wow, New Zealand sure looks gorgeous, that?s going on my to do lost for next year for sure. It looks untouched on a lot of them photos, perfect place for soul searching. I am well impressed, it makes the Uk look like a rat cage. _________________ The world meets nobody half way. If you want it, you got to take it. |

Honestly I have no idea at all how profitable travel is as a topic. I'm guessing one would not pick that topic for that reason alone. Hmm, I need to network with some travel site owners, don't I.
I can report that having a travel site that you think of as a business is a great way to get off one's butt and get out there and have some experiences you wouldn't have had otherwise. I've lived in north Florida since 1962, but have seen more cool stuff in the last 3 months than I did in all the previous years.
Hey, given your business success, and the tough year you've just had, maybe it would be a good time to head out in to the wilds with a camera.
I tell ya, it's magic medicine for me, and the perfect compliment to too many hours for too many years on the Internet.
For me, real success would be finding a way to include the pretty pictures and the boring "how to save money on a hotel" stuff, but to also go beyond that and address the "magic medicine" part of nature traveling as well, in a manner that was both entertaining AND profitable. Sort of a melting pot of art, religion and business if you will. A wholistic net publishing experience.
It's potentially a very interesting arena, but putting all the pieces together in to one package is a worthy challenge, that's for sure. _________________ Free Forum And Ezine Hosting

You can get a quick, rough idea by going to http://www.pixelfast.com/overture/ and typing in phrases such as "florida vacation", "las vegas vacation", "new zealand vacation", "kansas vacation", london vacation" etc.
The prices people are willing to pay per click vary hugely depending on the location.
"Brisbane vacation" 11 cents. "New Zealand vacation" over $4. _________________ Allan Gardyne
