I have been readin a lot recently about affiliate programs. Could someone breifly explain in simple terms the principle behind how this works. Everyone seems to talk about building a site aimed at a specific product, so...
In very simple terms, is it just that you build a site with links to other sites and earn refferal commissions from those links?
I have also read recently about Googles Adword program, and am lead to believe you can use this to earn money by writing ads linking to sites and earn commissions that way, is this so, and can someone give me some pointers on this if it is please.
Thanks in advance

Yes.

Yes, you can pay to advertise affiliate products/services using AdWords, sending the visitor straight to the merchant.
If you're really good at sales copywriting and choose merchants with high commissions and high conversion rates, you can make money that way. If you're totally new to Internet marketing and don't know what I'm talking about, you're quite likely to lose a lot of money fast if you try that technique.
That's why I recommend that everyone should start by creating their own web site. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thankyou very much
I'll go away and work on it, and will most probably be back with more questions.
Cheers |

Hi Sharky
I'm quite new at this too, but here's a few ideas:
When promoting affiliate products, you should also try and build an e-mail list at the same time.
You could do this by writing free reports... for example:
A review of where to find the best digital cameras on the net,
Or a review of cosmetic products
Or a review of golf products.
I'm sure Allan will tell you that once you have that list, then it is very easy to make affiliate commission, since you can send offers to them everytime a new product is released.
I think the key thing to remember is that when people look on the internet, they are looking for free valuable information. If your report makes it look like you are the authority on the subject, then people will be happy to go with your recommendation for the product.
If you do it well, they won't even realise that you are selling them something!
Hope this helps
