hi there
it's a fact that only a combination of on-site and off-site seo can bring proper results on SERP. But some seo guys often argue that if we do strong off-site optimization the websites can rank well without proper on-site care.
What do you think about this? How important is on-site seo in your view?

| I think both on site and off site seo are important, but if our site is really great and every one linking to our site says you're about something else then, that will overrule our SEO efforts right? |

SEO is important for the search engine to get now on your site and giving more search friendly for the internet user.
On the other hand, use your signature for your link, not putting the non-related link after the post. This is called link spamming which will not help in SEo.

On-page is probably the simplest of these two aspects of search engine optimization. It relates to the elements on the web page itself.
Off-page this relates to the links from other sites coming into the web page in question

who said on-page is not so important in SEO. I believe that on-page is the base. If you don't have good on-page SEO it will create problem in future.

agree.. they both have importance in seo.. and be patience with the result because it takes time..
