Post subject: adsense earnings today high then lower
|
|
|
Hi all,
As I previously confessed: I am an Adsense junkie. I refresh my stats often, it's just like a gambling addiction
Today I noticed this for the very first time. My stats were going up (clicks and earnings, CTR was very high) and at some point today the earnings went down. Clicks remained the same. I gather there has been a correction of some kind.
Did anyone else experience this in the past?
I also asked Adsense support about it.
Best regards,
Erwin. _________________ Customer Service Point

The various components of the Adsense stats do not update at the same time. You could see clicks and no impressions, and no money Don't sweat it, just relax.
I take my stats from the prior day and put into my earnings spreadsheet, and weekly check to see that my totals match. Other than that, you will get gray hair trying to figure out why Adsense does what it does

Aha, but have you ever had the stats saying that you had earned an amount of money, and then the next refresh that amount earned is lower than the one before? Maybe I'm making too much of a fuzz about it, just found it strange... never have I had stats refreshing to lower amounts.
And I am relaxed!
Really

I have seen this several times over the past weeks. Sometimes it looks like a refresh or "cache" error of my browser, but it wasn't.
Just try this:
Look at your Adsense stats viewing with the "today" option... and you will see todays results .... ok.
now change to "last 7 days" and you will also see todays results at the end of the list... BUT ... these numbers for today are sometimes different.
Check it on various times of the day and you should see these "differing" numbers for the same day. _________________ EL Bavaro |

Hi "El".
I'm certain that's not it. I know about the cache refresh, and I've gotten pretty handy in avoiding it, by selecting different date ranges constantly.
You know, an Adsense junkie needs his regular shot of changing stats
What I saw was really a reduction in earnings. Never happened before.

I've never seen a drop either, but they may have detected a questionable series of clicks, or possibly even had an advertiser default on a payment or something. I know that AdWords lets you set a daily limit on your spending, and perhaps the two sides may not communicate well.
For example, if I'm paying 50 cents per click and have a $5 daily budget, AdSense might only know the 50 cents number (payout being some percentage of that), and credit your account for a few clicks to this. But then AdWords gets the information and notices that the account hit the $5 limit after the first click. They would then take back the money credited to you.
This is just theory, I have no knowledge of how they operate. I'd like to think that it is all on the up and up, and unless you see lots of dollars disappearing, don't worry too much about it. _________________ Brad Waller | VP, Business and Affiliate Development

That's a quite plausibel theory. I'm still waiting for Google's explanation. I'll post it here if I get it.
