I've been using pingomatic to promote my blogs for abt a few monts and have yet to see my blogs picked up by any of the search engines. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Well there are many pining sites available online.I myself use pingler.If you are looking for indexing your site yet then use some do follow social bookmarking sites or post o some do follow blogs.

ping is just ping... they all do the same, either from command line or some gui but they all do the same thing.
