Quick update on my blog:
My blog page is almost 1 month old, and it's already getting almost twice as much traffic as my next most visited page.
Traffic to all of my pages has increased by 5% to 50% (depending on the page), which I believe is partly due to visitors following links to my other pages from my blog.
My blog page is unintentionally ranking very highly in Google and Yahoo for all kinds of keyphrases from my blog entries, and it's pulling in a pretty good volume of traffic that way. Most of those phrases are only used once on the entire page, and none of them are in my meta tags.
It's also getting spidered and re-indexed in the SE's at least twice a week. Other pages on my site that I link to from my blog are also getting spidered and indexed very quickly, often within a week of adding the page to my site.
I've made some affiliate sales by mentioning products in my blog entries (surrounded by a lot of content).
My AdSense earnings have risen significantly in the past three weeks.
If you're not blogging - even with just a plain, non-technical SBI page like mine - I think you're missing out on an easy way to some good spider food and SE traffic!
In retrospect, I wish I had put my blog on my home page. _________________ www.home-jewelry-business-success-tips.com |

Your site isn't getting indexed because of your "blog" it's getting indexed because you are updating it constantly.
Sean Burns has mentioned on here already that updating several pages in your site on a daily basis will increase bot activity and deeper spidering.

On the topic of blogging...
Consider adding a forum where you the administrator makes at least 30% of the posts.
It gives you a place to communicate your niche information to your visitors through your blog.
Yes, use the forum as a blog. Gradually interested visitors will participate and grow into your network.
All the best

Four months into blogging on my site, I've discovered more nifty reasons to blog:
- You can use a collection of blog entries on a related topic to create a quick "list" article, either for your own site or to submit to article banks and other sites. Just add an intro paragraph and a summary paragraph, with the blog entries itemized in between.
- You can mention in your blog any special deals your affiliate merchants are currently running (with your affiliate link of course). Most of my merchants don't want to be mentioned in email newsletters due to spam issues, so my blog is a perfect place to put a link for any special deals they have. I've gotten good conversions with this.
- Your blog is a neat "sticky" feature for your site. A lot of my visitors check back daily for a new blog entry, so I'm able to use it as a carrot-and-stick to get them to come back regularly. _________________ www.home-jewelry-business-success-tips.com |

Hi folks
I run my own blog using google's Blogger to produce the blog and host it from my own site
http://www.bigmix.co.uk
I'm not a techie so can't figure out how blogger does this or if you could use the same process to do your own blog?
I use the blog just to write quick updates to my site rather than writing a latest news page.
I also use the blog to give the website a bit of a personality as folks reading it will know that I actually wrote it and am not trying to sell sell sell from these pages

| Quote: | | So you have to work just as hard to make blog content as you do regular content. So why not just do a regular affiliate site |
i have a blog which has posts with not more than 50 words on them and i get over 1000 visitors a day coming from search engines . The blog is about 5 month old
If i had a site it would probably still be in the sandbox ....
THATS THE BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BLOG AND A WEB SITE TODAY.
I tried both worlds and i can tell you from my expreience that today se prefer blogs . |
