If you assumed that everyone already knows about dating sites and that they're not worth promoting, here's an article that will surprise you:
http://www.contentbiz.com/sample.cfm?contentID=2626
The ContentBiz article describes how Match.com sites gain 46,000 to 48,000 paid subscribers and lose roughly 16,600 per month, for a net gain of 30,000 to 32,000 new paid subscribers a month.
Subscribers pay up to $19 a month.
It also describes the efforts Match.com makes to help its top affiliates, and how different entry pages work best with different audiences.
There will be free access to the article until March 18. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Interestingly, it says they do compete with their affiliates in the PPC SEs and elsewhere.
There's a whole thread on that somewhere, isn't there?
On the subject of different landing pages, I mentioned the idea of writing different sales letters (for different traffic sources) to someone with strong experience as a copywriter, but he was cold on it.
It struck me as the ultimate in targeting the sales letter to the visitor, but I suppose it depends on how much your visitors vary and how many of them there are as to whether it's worth it in practice.
Cheers,

As you probably know, Site Sell are very strong on a variety of landing pages, and top notch pages they are too.
All the best,

Yes, I'd noticed the quantity.
Have you found one targeted at you yet? Not sure I have.
[It's OK, I've bought everything anyway.]
But these are mainly presell pages. I was meaning the actual "go for the gold" hard(ish) sell sales letter.
Cheers,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."
