Post subject: A few questions as I venture forth...
|
|
|
Hello everyone,
I've been working at setting up an affiliate site for a few months now, slowly but surely. I purchased SBI and have been thuroughly impressed with the ease at which it can be followed.
I have come upon a couple of questions so far in my travels which I'm hoping someone can provide some insight on...
1) Some time ago I read (I believe in Allan's Associate Program's Newsletter) that you should not add affiliate sites to your web-site until after submitting to Yahoo. Why is this and if I did what consequences might I face?
2) When speaking of a two-tier program like that in SBI, how are sales tracked from a new affiliate that joins a program through my site. Is it based on all sales the new member has within that program similar to a downline in an MLM?
3) If it is suggested to write pre-selling not selling content, how does one pre-sell an affiliate program for tiered commissions? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
4) How does one become an assistant to Allan Gardyne, where do I apply to become the next Rupert or Ros?
Thanking you in advance.

Here's my thoughts...

Don't worry about some affiliate links in Yahoo. Just make sure the content would stand alone as worthwhile information without them. Moderation is the key, as Wally would say.

That's a good way of looking at it. A 2 tier program is just like the tip of an MLM arrangement with commissions related to sales.
Having said that, tracking methods vary from program to program. Pay particular interest in lifetime or residual commissions or lifetime commissions.
Also, don't expect much from second tier referrals. Go for sales yourself.

Get a book on sales management. It's more a key of motivating a sales team. Also look at how successful companies like Sitesell motivate their affiliates.

Get networking, and - based on past examples - move to Australasia (preferably Dunedin or Queensland), if you're not already there.
Hope this helps,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

You gotta be joking!
Why would you want to work for me when you can read the SiteSell instruction guide and Rupert's case studies and be your own boss?
Charlie's right, though. My assistants live in either Queensland, Australia, or Dunedin, New Zealand. They're both great places to live. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thanks Charlie, sounds like some good advice. I gusee I'll wait to look Allan up at another time since I'm on the other side of the planet right now. I wonder if Ken Envoy is looking for anybody???
Another question I had, has anyone designed and promoted and sold there own product(s) on the net from a small site. This is more a future endeavor I plan, but was wondering if anyone had a handle on which was more sucessfull(if anyone had done both), going it alone, or marketing their product through another site.
I know each product is different and so on, so results would vary, and without knowing what I plan to develope makes it difficult to answer this question. Let's just say my product will be a sort of hygeine product to be used by both men and women.
Thanks again! |

Allan,
You should have an "Apprentice" TV show just like Donald Trump.
