As far as I know, Yahoo! focuses more on the age of the website. Thus, after registering your domain, you may want to let it age for more than a year before building relevant backlinks from high quality pages in a similar niche. Furthermore, you've got to regularly publish content and create more backlinks as yahoo love backlinks. Don't forget to submit your site to http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit and make use of yahoo answers to promote your blog site.

For promoting your website in search engines. You have to work on different link building techniques like forum posting, yahoo directory submission, social bookmarking, article submission etc.
But I want to know one thing that why you targets yahoo instead of google for website promotion

| Bookmark it on yahoo first then after acknowledging, yahoo will add you in its directory and after that do its seo. |
