Post subject: Question on embedding affiliate links in other pages
|
|
|
I joined the affiliate program from Commission Junction and I had a question on one specific part about embedding affiliate links into my website.
For my affiliate website it uses several pages, each one about a slightly different topic. For example, instead of posting the affiliate link on mysite.com I am posting them on mysite.com/otherpage and mysite.com/otherpage2
My question is, do I need to specify the affiliate link only for mysite.com, or have to make each affiliate link specific to the subpage they are in.
I couldn't find any information on this, and I don't want to setup the website just to redo everything. |

One link will work fine over and over. You can set up redirects with cloaking scripts or use .htaccess files to manage your links even easier.
A bit to learn but worth the effort.
You may want to create new links for tracking purposes however. _________________

Yep its good for the one site, its just for tracking purposes. You can use cj masking or you can insert into a php/redirect or just straight _________________ Affiliate Organizer Software - http://www.affiliateorganizer.com

Hi Paul,
From your post I would guess that you are pretty new to it all.
Nothing wrong with that, we all start off being new to it
It's just that I'm guessing that some of the terms used in the replies to your post may confuse you.
I'm not knocking the posters, well meant replies with good information.
It's just that, well I'm not new, but I would not know a .htaccess file or a php/redirect from a hole in my head.
As long as your affiliate link goes to the merchants sales page and identifies you as the affiliate, you can use it on any page of your site or even another site of yours.
Tracking is good, it enables you to know where sales are coming from. But you may want to learn that a little further down the road. _________________ Why Do Most Affiliates Make Less Than $500 Per Month?
