Can you only install One wordpress blog per domain? or install it 2,3,4 times?
in other directories, such as
www .mydomain .com/niche1/wordpressblog1
www .mydomain .com/niche2/wordpressblog2
www .mydomain .com/niche3/wordpressblog3
www .mydomain .com/niche4/wordpressblog4
lets say the above niches are similar... (and won't be for SEO purposes, but just as dummy sites)
[I use host4profit for hosting]
Do many people do this model? (of multiple wordpress blogs on 1 domain?)
is it a wise+ good business model?
and does it have any downsites? |

Interesting question, eyes2005.
I checked with my host support and they told me that "...you can setup as many blogs as you want per domain. Wordpress can set them up for you in sub-directories during the installation."
They also told me they do not know of any drawbacks for using this model. You would be doing the necessary SEO efforts for each of the blogs, right?

Directories would be viewed as an extension of the primary domain. Burying blogs in sub folders makes them harder to rank for SEO purposes as independant entities. The Bots need to crawl "deep" to find your content.
Setting up as Subdomains generally implies they are independent sites for SEO purposes. This may make them easier to rank independent of the primary domain.
The bottom line is you can do what you want... but make sure you have a plan for what you are doing. And remember that as you build links to your campaigns you will spend a lot of time and effort that may be better served developing individual identity on their own domain. _________________

Just have to setup databases for each. Easy.

WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious”
is just released and integrates WordPress Multi User... so you can now install as many blogs as you like from a single installation. I have not tested this feature yet... but WP 3.0 is a year and a half in the making... I have no doubt it works just fine. _________________
