Post subject: Php/Html for a new Site

Will my search engine rankings be affected if the page is designed using Php instead of Html. This would make updating of webpages a lot easier and less of a hassle. However, I'm worried that search engines will not be able to spider me or will penalize my site. .
Assuming that my site will have informative and keyword-rich articles which are original and not spam, will I be able to have Top 10 rankings if the site is in php instead of Html. |

Using PHP will not affect your search engine rankings.
Hurting rankings just for not using an html file extension would be quite a silly thing for search engines to do.

The things you want to be careful of with dynamic sites, like php, are:
1. keep the text links urls with as few variables as possible
2. don't use ID, as in sid pid SESSIONID etc in your links
3. make sure you have text links for the SE's to follow as they won't "query" your database
