The easiest to use is blogger.com - it is very user friendly, but in my experience, I didn't get very good traffic from it. Wordpress is a great alternative - it is a little more difficult to use and a lot more complex, however, but it does great in the search engines.

Blogger is one I use often. Then there is wordpress, weebly, livejournal.
I think your best bet is starting with blogger or wordpress

Blogger and wordpress are the most used blog hosts... I prefer using blogger because of its functionality and add-ons that you could add in your blog.. Its design/templates are also creative...

Alan,
If you're after free blogging, your best bet is to start with WordPress. That way, if you ever decide to blog for business, the conversion will be much easier.

| WordPress edges it over Blogger for me, assuming you are looking to make money through a blog. WordPress is more SERPs friendly. |
