What is the 'minimum' average word count that the article directories (lets say top 100) accept as the minimum amount of words your article can be, to get accepted?
if you were to give an average word count that the article should be, minimum that they would accept the article.. 200? 250? 320? 350? |

Hi Eyes,
I don't know what the average word length is for acceptance, but I have had articles rejected by one directory for being under 500 words.
On the other hand Ezine Articles seems to welcome shorter articles.
200 words does seem a bit short though, I would think that you'd have trouble getting that accepted. _________________ Why Do Most Affiliates Make Less Than $500 Per Month?

Hello Eyes,
I think that it is 250 words. However, directories don't usually publish your articles usless they are over 500 words.

From what I have seen most directories accept 400 or more words. Some, however, have it set at 500.
As a rule of thumb I always go with 500 words. All directories will accept your article and you can produce a high quality article.
Good Luck,

Yes each directory is different - but even with EZA then if you post a really short article then to me it always looks a bit spammy.
I always go to 400 words, costs less to outsource, never had a problem getting it accepted into the major directories and I find them a lot easier to write if I don't know much about the subject. |

Hi,
The best way is to create articles having minimum 500 words, as it is being accepted by every directory you submit and that is what I normally do.

I seen many directories who accepted even less than 200 words. But if you go for the toppers, you have to read their guidelines and follow them. Mostly 250 to 350 words are accepted if the contents are really worth and not garbage. The content is the king. _________________ Search Engine Optimization• Copy Paste Course• Affiliate Marketing |

If you want your articles to stick look and see what other people are doing. Don't shoot for minimum, shoot for average. You want to be one of the guys, no point in posting just to get denied. _________________

^^ he's got the drill! Good point!
Although, some sites do have a minimum of 250(pending on the site). _________________ Rx-Commission.com - Up to 60%; FULL range of products; Weekly payouts. |

I agree with some of the other replies that it's 250 and 500 for some directories. _________________ Intavant Affiliate Group

Apart from Ezinearticles, I doubt that many of the top 100 article directories would accept articles of the sizes you mention.
In the long run, if you are serious about Internet marketing you will want to ensure that your articles offer good quality content. You can achieve that on Ezinearticles by offering "tips" in the shorter articles. But if you are only aiming to save time and effort, you will be investing in a false economy. _________________ Online Article Marketing: http://grasp-the-nettle.com/Article-Marketing.html

I have gotten content accepted at several top directories by sticking to the 400 word mark. Sometimes it can be shorter for EZA depending on the subject. But for overall acceptance at many article sites I'd recommend going with the 400 word mark minimum. _________________ Protect Yourself from SCAMS ~ Domain Name Cash Advance ~ 25 Free Backlinks |

I agree with the above statement. A 400 word minimum almost guarantees your article to be accepted length wise. _________________ Intavant Affiliate Group
