Many of you who are affiliates will have already seen this message today.
Dear Valued Publisher,
Please be aware that Hostgator.com, one of the advertisers you are joined to in the Commission Junction network, has been deactivated.
While Hostgator.com is deactivated, you will not receive commissions for traffic you drive via the advertiser's banners, text links, and/or other link types. Consequently, please replace these links as soon as possible with links from active advertisers
Makes one wonder how many will still keep "recommending" HostGator. What is more troubling however is if this is an indicator of SERIOUS financial problems at HostGator. Afterall affilaites are only paid AFTER a sale is created.
Probably not a smart move on HostGators part. Going to be tough to earn back the trust of those affiliates who have been plugging them for so long.
An even bigger concern is for those who use HostGator. If they are in fact in financial trouble what does this mean for you? Do you want to wake up one day only to find out none of your sites are working because the company went under?
Sign of the times. When the smart companies learn how to leverage their affiliates during hard times others will panic and destroy their "free" sales force. _________________

It's a good reminder that we shouldn't rely entirely on one company, one affiliate program, one affiliate network, one web host, one traffic source or one industry for our income.
It's wise to diversify and have a number of revenue streams. _________________ Allan Gardyne

FYI: They turned it back on. But Hostgator is a horribly mismanaged company. And yes it is a good reminder especially when affiliates work so hard to create presell materials only to watch them disappear. _________________

I just joined them last month. Still no problem until now. I never need to contact support yet. Their features is so so, you get what you paid. Cpanel version still 10, so i recommend NOT to use it’s Fantastic for instant installation. My current concern is the same as you guys, we cannot change NS.
I would recommend Host gator. |
