Post subject: New and have questions about keywords
|
|
|
Hi all!
I've been reading a lot of these posts lately. I finally purchased SBI and am trying to start with my first niche idea. I have a question about my demand, supply, and prof. columns.
Some of my keyword listings are like this. They show the highest prof., but not great demand:
498/6/12,874.2
278/6/7188.6
219/7/4855.3
375/13/4477.3
and so on..................
Are these good to hold on to? They also contain the original keyword itself and wasn't sure if I should just toss this whole niche idea out.
Any help would be appreciated! BTW, this site is sooooooo helpful and resourceful.
Thanks,
Sue |

I had alot of questions like this before I settled on a niche. Here's the gist of what I learned:
These numbers are perfect for Tier 3's. The demand for each may not be high, but they add up. And there will be 25-225 Tier 3's to monetize. So the traffic will add up.
It could also be argued that they are just fine for Tier 2's also, since the supply is so low. A site devoted to topics in moderate demand, with very little competition can become very lucrative. You could dominate the niche before heavy competition comes in.
Other, more experienced SBI'ers can say it much better than I. So I'll find the threads about this very thing that helped me so much and post them for you. You may be able to find them on your own if you do a search for kw's like supply & demand, profitability, niche, etc. But I'll get back to you with the threads I find.
Until later...

Thank you Debbi for your input, but I'm still new when it comes to creating websites and am not sure what you mean by tier 2/3? Can you explain.
Thanks again,
Sue |

Tier 2 pages are linked in your navigation bar and are directly linked from the home page ... tier 3 pages are linked from tier 2 pages and arenot in the navigation bar. They are designed to drive traffic to your site and have lower traffic counts but good chances for dominating the keyphrase because the profitability is so high.

Sue, this is SiteBuildIt (SBI) terminology. It's easy to forget there are people on this forum who aren't familiar with it.
It reminds me of when I first read the SBI guide...
I thought they meant "location on the server" (subdirectories) rather than a linking hierarchy. Jargon can mean different things to different people, depending on their background.
Cheers,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

Sorry about the jargon, Sue. But you said you had purchased SBI and were using the SBI Manger. So I just assumed you had read the Action Guide. It explains Tier 2 and Tier 3 in-depth and is a great blueprint guide for getting your site build step-by-step.
Hope this helps,

By the way, here's one of those threads I was referring to:
http://www.associateprograms.com/discus/viewtopic.php?t=2230
My question when I started that thread was almost exactly the question you had strating this one. There's alot of really great, hellpful replies that helped me including great insight from Debs, Allan Gardyne, LizB, Charl9ie, and Larry Chamberlain...you'll find they consistently give awesome advice!
Hope this helps,

Thanks all for the help and support. Debbi, I did just buy SBI and am still in the beginning. I haven't hit the tier explanation yet, but thanks for your help on defining it beforehand.
Well, I'll do my research on my niche and see how it goes. I'll let you all know, so you can critique it for me. |

Good luck choosing your niche...It's important to find the right blend of profitability and passion (not necessarily in that order! )
It took me a looooong time just to decide...too long! I got stuck analyzing TOO many possibilities and couldn't decide.
On the other hand, it's not good to rush in either. The trick is finding your passion and committing to it. At least that was what was tricky for me.
I'm really glad you chose SBI and joined this forum though. I'm looking forward to seeing your site when it's ready. Good luck, and whenever you need help, you'll find this is a great place to get answers.
All the best,

I have to add a concerned caution here.
If you go through the Action Guide, doing as you go, you will be redoing a lot of your work later.
I strongly, strongly recommend you print and read the Action Guide thoroughly before you start brainstorming ... before you start planning, in order to save yourself a load of reworking later.
