I am completely green at affiliate marketing. i am keeping track of my hours and have put in over 70 on my site that i began last monday. i would really like a mentor if anyone is up to it. just some questions...

When should i expect to receive my first dollar or even ten cents? i haven't made anything. nada.
according to google i have a bounce rate of 26%. Is
this good, bad, horrible?
i have had 18 unique visitors(again according to google) any idea where to go from here to up it?
i place adsense on my site yesterday and have received no clicks. Is this normal?
i am a stay at home mom and with the economy bad i am struggling to make this work. i am putting a lot of faith and hope that i will not have to return to a "normal" job. currently, i am having health problems and don't think i could do it anyway. i guess all i am really looking for is some hope or encouragement. thank you.

Well, most people especially beginners will think that
once they have their website up and they've insert
some affiliate links or adsense, money will flow
in automatically.

I faced this kind of situation as well before.
But this is not how it works. There are a lot more
to this. Many people thought that making money online
is something easy. They thought that it is a magic
wand.

Bear in mind, internet marketing is not a
get-rich-quick scheme. So put in some effort and learn
along the way how you can improve your online business.

Create value for the people in your market, give them
what they are looking for. You need to build trust
and relationship.

Then learn and master at least one traffic generation
strategies. Smile

I can most definetly tell you i do not believe this is a get rich quick scheme and i am more than willing to put the hard work(and hours)in. i guess i would like to know if i am heading in the right direction. i don't want to waste my time on one thing when i should be doing another. A majority of my time has gone into learning html, because i have no money to invest in a site builder.

I am so excited i had to tell everyone. You guys will probably laugh, and hopefully say you have been there! I generated my first adsense revenue of $0.61 Yeah!!! Laughing

My site has been up for one month as of jan. 22. It just feels good to at least generate something! Shawnlim i didn't really
get what you meant about get rich quick. Now i really do know. I have put A LOT of time into my site, and now i know it will take A LOT more time to be where i want to be. Just wanted to thank everyone for helping guide the way.

I am going to be honest, you are headed in the right direction.

However, one way to ensure that your site gets the correct amount of traffic is to have new and refreshing content.

Do you have a blog? Have you ever though of starting a blog? Google loves blogs. Google loves blogs because they have content.

I see that your site is about gifts. Now, what one has to do is narrow it down to what type of gifts? Focus on male? Focus on female? Focus on lesbian?

Well, it can be all three. However, you need to optimize each page for that particular gift section to start getting real traffic.

Now, once the traffic gets there, I believe they are going to be looking for a little bit more robust site than you have as far as content and graphics are concerned.

If you stay around in this forum, people will help you. I can tell from your post you are hungry and you are willing and you want it.

Let me give you a similar story. I started writing an ebook a year ago this month. I sold my first book last week. It took a year...A YEAR!

Now the average person would have folded. Thank goodness that was not the only thing I was working on but you see my point. You have to keep at it until it works.

Now, don't wait a year for your first sale, lol, but understand patience, persistence and perseverance are the name of this game.

I found your site too plain jane for a Gift site. Also you may focus on the gifts to whom are given. Offer a free ebook or something to attract, of course it should be valuable and related to your topic. For traffic generation Post articles on articles sites with your links in the box, twitter and doe social book marking. My opinion is Ads in targeted ezines wold work better. Your Google ad should get attention. Suggest make it accordingly.Don't despair.
