I would like to use article submission to promote my blog and web site but if I submit one article to many article directories, wouldn't google just count the link as just one despite the fact that the article has been published at many sites?
Can you please let me know what I have to do for me to get the number of links corresponding to the number of directories which published the article and spidered by the search engines

Hi,
I'm quite nervous about this - I'm submitting articles manually at the moment, about 1 or 2 per day. Obviously if I used an automated submission program I could submit the same article to 50+ directories. But I don't know whether:-
a) the article sites will realise the same article has been submitted elsewhere and reject it
b) google will spot the duplicate content and penalise it?
Should I just write one article and submit to one site? I can see it taking a long time to build up a decent number of backlinks!

Blog Commenting can generate much needed back links to your web page which helps with search engine optimization for your site.

You should plan your work like:
1. today: 4 or 5 blogs commenting
2. tomorrow: 4 or 5 forums posting
3. day after tomorrow: submit article to 4 or 5 directories
and so on.
These will help to generate more back links to your site.

Social Bookmarking does generate some traffic for me but not good traffic.
I get the best traffic from forums.
I will make a post about it, so newbies or anyone who is not that familiar with forums can have more options to promote their blog.

Here are some of the factors you need to consider with regards to SEO:
1. On-Page Optimization - it deals with the proper use of title tags, meta tags, alt tags, description, keywords and h1/h2 tags.
2. Off-Page Optimization - it deals with building links.
Above all is the quality of content that you have. Remember content is king right?
