Post subject: Make $100 a month?
|
|
|
Hi,
I'm looking at ways to monetize my blog. Currently I have Adsense and Adbrite as my advertisement and am affiliated with two software companies. My goal is to make a $100 a month. Am I expecting too much? Obviously traffic is key, which I'm not having a lot of luck on. Could anyone shed some light on how to make a $100 a month and/or increase traffic? Thanks. _________________ PcTutorialsOnline- Improve your PC |

There are two sides to this... traffic and your conversion rate. They really ought to be two separate discussions.
Here's a thread which looks at getting more traffic:
How to get more than 500 visitors/day?
http://www.AssociatePrograms.com/discus/ftopic6269.html
On conversion rates...
One good way to increase your conversion rate is to create an in-depth case study of a product or service, describing in precise detail exactly how it has helped you.
If you enthusiastically recommend a product which solves someone's problem, you're halfway there.
Also, you need to think about how people are finding your site and what they're looking for.
Ideally, you want people who are desperate for the answer to a problem to be discovering your site AND your site needs to recommend a product or service that solves the problem.
For example, if you write about "Firefox plugins" and they find your site by typing that phrase into a search engine and then they find free, helpful information, that's very good for building your reputation. That's good for the long-term view, but isn't likely to generate much revenue today.
Three ideas...
1. Have a prominent sentence urging people to subscribe to your RSS feed to get more good tips.
2. Ask them to subscribe to your newsletter to get a useful free report. A newsletter gives you multiple opportunities to make sales. A newsletter also helps you win readers' trust.
3. Do some video reviews of your favorite products. Post them to YouTube and then take the code YouTube supplies and paste that into your site. Videos are powerful.
No. You're not expecting too much. $100 a month is a very modest goal. In my Affiliate Program Tutorial I recommend newcomers should start by aiming for $300 a month. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Marketing is NOT about Traffic.
Marketing is figuring out what you customers problems are and then providing a solution to their problems.
If you can do that effectively... then you'll have a blog that people will want to use now, and return to later.
If you can incorporate a product or service as part of the solution then you can make money.
Everyone thinks they need more traffic. But they have not taken the time to figure out who the the "Traffic" represents.
Those are real people... and you have to provide value to those people.
Check your logs, see where people come from, see what pages they exit from, see how long they stay on your site. Check what they click on. _________________

It's not difficult to make $100 per month.
But I wouldn't suggest having adsense AND affiliate programs on the same page.
Submit articles to article directories (with links to your site in the bio box) will quickly earn you $100 with adsense

I'd suggest you experiment and see what works in your situation.
Try first with just affiliate links for a month or so. Then add AdSense and see if your total revenue increases. You may be pleasantly surprised to find that adding AdSense makes very little difference to your affiliate commissions. Results will vary depending on the niche, placement of ads, etc. _________________ Allan Gardyne

I like adsense, the earnings grow slow but its an extra income stream, just leave it there and forget about it, then keep on building your blogs, articles and getting more traffic. _________________ Visit My Website donothingmoney.com |

What has worked for me with adsense is I research the average cpc (cost per click) for a particular keyword and build a site around that. For example "managed hosting" pays £17.49 per click so building a content page with this keyword is a must as my site focuses on building websites and hosting.
This will of course be different for every niche that's why it's a good idea to do a thorough keyword research before you even start building your site.
Also the placement of adsense below the fold also helps get more click from visitors.
I also use SBI! to build my sites and Alan has done a great job reviewing it.
Hope this helps. _________________ Daniel D Dwase

That's an interesting assessment. Why would going below the fold make Adsense more clickable? _________________ Jose Perez

Below the fold means that the first thing a visitor to your site sees without having to scroll down. Like what Allan has done on this website.
Visit any page on associateprograms.com and you'll notice the placement of ads... on the top right corner. Have you ever wondered why a top marketer like Allan has chosen to have his ads like this?... It's because it increases click-through rates on this site.
Hope this helps explain your concerns.

Thank you, dizi.
I had thought "below the fold" meant scrolling beyond the initial screen... _________________ Jose Perez
