It reminds me of a post here by John Reese...
"I challenge you to do this just for the next three months" (or words to that effect). Although it can be important to think long term, it's an easy trap to fall into - missing out on what is working today.
Besides, who says you can't string a few three month periods end to end?
Just a thought,

The more you try and get return visitors (as opposed to relying on passing SE traffic), generally the more effort it takes to keep things running.
Regularly updated content and ezines all have great value, but they take time on an on-going basis. Some people prefer the more plug-in direct marketing model, especially when running multiple sites.

Charlie,
These are my thoughts exactly. I'd rather have multiple sites which make less but add up to quite a bit together, than go through the trouble of daily maintaining sites. As Allan suggested, I intend to tweak till I'm making let's say $400 a month per site and then just keep building more and more sites. So many ezine subscribers only want free stuff and never buy anything.

That's very true, but couldn't the same be said for visitors to content sites, too?
I think it's important to build a list of some kind, even if you don't want to go to the trouble of writing a regular ezine. Consider a notification for list for when you add something new to the site.
Time and again you hear marketers saying the biggest mistake they made was not starting their list soon enough. Maybe you can find a low effort compromise that keeps your options open for the future.
All the best,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

You've certainly given me some things to think about and work on. Advice like this is always welcome. Don't hesitate to send me a PM if you have any further thoughts, buddy. _________________ Ten Real World Sample Sites |

Thanks to all of you for offering such great advice. I still haven't come up with a plan of attack, but I will be sure to let you all know when I do. I have got the south and west coasts of Australia to drive whilst thinking about it!
