Aha! He then rapidly mastered all basic chess moves in a few days, and begin playing and beating everyone else in the class, including me a few times.

good story Phil. And so very true that you have to want to learn.
But is there sometimes something else required?
I 'wanted' to learn face to face selling, but never got a handle on it. I studied the techniques but when it came to putting them into practice . . .

I can say honestly that I have never held a sales job and never applied for one. I am a technical guy who enjoys programming and analyzing stats. I did have to read up on how to write good sales copy and then test what worked the best. To me the key to internet marketing is generating traffic. The only way to generate traffic is to have lots of content that people will link to. To this extent, my online marketing has been focused on getting a lot of unique content online with minimal effort. This has brought me over 30,000 unique visitors per day and over $1000 profit per day with very little "hard selling".

I'd add "are you good at teaching?" as well. Time and time again I find teachers that have used their enthusiasm and talents to turn themselves into preselling pitch masters.
I think the key is to be enthusiastic about what you're sharing and the best teachers are also passionate about what they do. The professional fine tuning of being passionate is one of the key benefits they have when they turn to affiliate marketing.

Wow, Kevin (Motorhead), thanks for exploding my little theory in such an inspiring manner. Bravo to you sir!
I could really relate to your post, because I'm similar kind of technerd, currently pursuing a similar strategy. No where near as successfully as you!
Anything else you feel you can share will be read with interest and appreciation here.

Excellent point.
One of my chronic pet rants is that although affiliate marketing is supposed to be informative pre-sell, teaching in a sense, there seems to be very little, if any, study of teaching in the affiliate marketing business.
Speaking generally, the affiliate marketing industry seems to just assume that it knows how to teach.
In the real teaching profession, there are millions of quite intelligent people who spend their entire careers studying the process of teaching itself.
One reason not enough students are serious about learning could be that not enough teachers are serious about teaching. _________________ The best nature on the Net, delivered to your inbox.
