|
|
Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good beginners guide to making money from Adsense ?
Is it best to use bogs or websites ?
Is it becoming too difficult to make money from Adsense ?
Your opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies.
Although it will take some time and effort to earn from adsense, I don't want to go down the wrong route.
I've read various posts from people who have spent weeks and months building blogs and websites and finished up earning just a few dollars a week from adsense.
It would be nice to following a blue print from someone who's done it all before. If there is such a thing as a fast track method, then I'm all ears.
Regards

I urge you to start by carefully reading everything published on Google's own AdSense pages - http://adsense.google.com
There's heaps of really useful information there.
I'm no longer surprised to come across AdSense users who haven't taken the time to read Google's own tips. Google WANTS you to succeed, so this is the best place to start for reliable information. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Blogs, in my experience, are more difficult to monetize with Adsense than web sites.
My favorite is Joel Comm's "Google Adsense Secrets" (although I hate the title; anything with the word "secret" in it reeks of "guru-ism.")
Bad title aside, it's a really good e-book and only $9.95.

As Allan said, the best 'blue print' is the Google TOS and guide
Yes a lot of people have built blogs and websites and are not making much money, and others are making some money
It's about selecting the right niches, using appropriate adsense blocks and getting targeted traffic _________________ Free Marketing Videos

Thanks again for the replies.
I regards to the subject of niches, is there such a thing as a ncihe anymore ? It would seem that on the internet every subject you can think of has been covered. The word saturation comes to mind.
I've just picked out 4 crafts at random which I would consider niche markets and googled them :-
1. Making Chocolate .. 3,900,000 sites
2. Candle Making ..... 2,900,000 sites
3. Knitting .....32,000,000 sites
4. Making Toys ..... 1,860,000 sites
I've no intention of doing any of these of course, it was just a test.
Just how niche does your niche have to be ? If your niche is too niche, then you won't get anybody searching for it.
Sorry if this sounds dumb.

I'm definitely with Allan on this one. Most people don't take the time to read the information provided by Google. I see questions asked in Forum posts all the time that are clearly answered by Google had the user taken the time to read the program literature. _________________ Earn $50 Per Sale - Every Online Business Needs This!

An excellent question because beginners often find the word "niche" screamed at them so often these days that I imagine it must be a bit offputting.
Basically, the answer is: not so niche that there isn't another site on the web talking about it.
It's not 1996. The moment anyone thinks of anything at all, someone, somewhere else in the world will be writing a web page about it.
Ideally, niche enough that you can realistically write maybe one of the five best websites in the world about that topic.
Look at those four million sites which mention the phrase chocolate making. If you wanted to become a chocolatier, would you want to go and visit all four million a second time?
Would you even want to go back and visit all ten on the first page of the Google SERPS a second time?
Could you write a better site than at least one of the websites in the top 5 SERPS? (Answer: Sure you can).
It's not about how many other sites are out there. It's about how good your site is.
So why worry about the other 3,899,995 sites?
Oh, and it's not "niche"... it's: "niche with passion" |

Hang on! That figure is terribly misleading. You probably need to learn a bit about keyword research.
Here are few basic pointers...
If you search in Google without using quotes, you'll find pages that include the words "making" plus the word "chocolate" SOMEWHERE on the page. They're NOT all your competition. You're counting more than 3 million pages you don't need to count.
I tried a search for "making chocolate" (with quotes) and Google told me there were about 208,000 pages containing that phrase.
But are ALL those pages your competition? No. Here's why...
If you're creating web pages, you'll learn about optimizing a web page, and you're going to learn that just about the first thing you do is put your key phrase in the title. You need to look for pages that do that.
So let's try a search in Google to see how many pages use the words "making" and "chocolate" in the the title...
Try this search:
allintitle: making chocolate
Result: 142,000
However, if they're REALLY optimizing for that phrase, they'll use the EXACT phrase in the title.
Do this search:
allintitle: "making chocolate"
Result: 4,460 pages.
So we've gone down from 3.9 million to 4,460 pages.
There are ways of narrowing that down a LOT more.
However, all we've done so far is look at the SUPPLY - how many pages are out there that might be competitors. As you know, it's really important you consider the DEMAND - how many people are typing that particular phrase into search engines.
There's quite a bit more to this...
You want to count only your serious potential competitors.
For example, your REAL competitors will have links to their "chocolate making" page with the words "chocolate making" or something similar as the anchor text (the clickable words) in the link. They'll have achieved a reasonable PageRank - say PageRank 4 - that would take a bit of work to beat.
It could take you weeks or months to fiddle about doing such research manually for a whole lot of phrases. At KeywordWorkshop.com you can find reviews of keyword research tools that speed up this process enormously.
For example, have a look at Craig Cahill's review of WordZe - http://www.keywordworkshop.com/articles/58/1/WordZe-Review . WordZe includes a handy feature which is very useful for researching and analyzing potential niches.
Have a look at the "Research Keyword Marketing Competition" screenshot. If you can read the small print, that will give you a good idea of what the tool can do.
I hope that helps more than it confuses. _________________ Allan Gardyne

I learned new stuffs in this
post. Very great!!
Thanks Allan.
It's my first time to know the
different between googling with
quotes and without one.
It does change the way I view
things right now.
Is it possible if I create a lot
of blogger account
(1 account = 1 blog) and put just
around 5 posts and put adsense
on the page.
Will it helps to increase my adsense
income?
(Just wondering.. ^_^) _________________ Timothy Thomas
