Post subject: Affiliate Payment Rip-off
|
|
|
Hi,
One of my affiliate programs owes me over $500. They're affiliate agreement states that they pay as soon as you make $100 in sales. I've tried contacting them to no avail. The support link in my admin. account is defunct also.
In my search for some answers, I came across a post in another forum by someone else who went through the same thing with this company as me.
Is there some way to hold these people accountable? Would ICOP be able to offer some help, or is it possible to file a report with the Better Business Bureau??? _________________ guitar2tr

I'm definitely sorry to here that. I'm sure you've tried to email them, if not, try emailing them as well as contacting by phone. Sometimes although their phone number is not visible on their main page, you can find it listed in their terms & conditions pages. If they seem to ignore you. let them know that you will expose their wrong doing on every forum and discussion board as far as the web can reach!
I've done this before when an AP was playing games with my money and they responded quick, fast & in a hurry after that. The written word is very powerful and companies know this. Regardless of how much they owe you, they know that you could damage them farrr beyond that dollar amount if you expose them to others. If it comes down to reporting them further, there are several places you can go even beyond the BBB. Here's my scams reference list. It is not an affiliate link so hopefully it won't violate any rules on this forum. Hope this helps! - http://hubpages.com/hub/Home-Business-Scams-and-Internet-Scams _________________ Protect Yourself from SCAMS ~ Domain Name Cash Advance ~ 25 Free Backlinks |

Just checking... That's unusual. I wonder if it's possible that you've misunderstood something?
It's more usual for affiliates to be paid the next month, or maybe twice a month, as long as you've earned a certain minimum, for example $50 or $100.
If the support link is defunct, that's a really bad sign.
You should be able to find their phone number by doing a whois search at DomainTools.com or BetterWhois.com.
If a phone call doesn't do the trick, feel free to post a detailed complaint in our Complaint Corner...

Doing that can sometimes generate a response when other attempts have failed. _________________ Allan Gardyne

I do have a phone number, but was trying email first. Guess it's time to go give them a call. If that doesn't work, I will probably take your advice and post a warning so other affiliates don't join their program and get taken advantage of.
Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. _________________ guitar2tr

I'd like to have all the money I haven't been paid. I could live for quite some time quite comfortably on it. _________________

Well, my saga continues...
I tried calling yesterday, but the phone number was disconnected! Not too surprising. So...
I decided to contact another affiliate. This person has also had some trouble with late payments, sometimes had to send an email reminder, but said they always got paid eventually.
Here is what their Affiliate Agreement states, Alan:
| Quote: | ...Payments are sent out to affiliates once a month for those who have earned more than $100. The minimum check sent out is $100. Commissions will accumulate month after month until they reach $100 at which point you would receive a check.
Commission payments go out from the 12th to the 20th of each month for the previous months commissions.
When your first commission check is due, we will contact you via the e-mail address that we have on file for you to request your Paypal address. If you do not provide one, we will send your commission payment via check. |
Since I've been an affiliate of this company for approximately four years, I've decided to wait out the rest of this week to see if they will respond to my inquires. After that, I suppose I should file a report with ripoffreport.com to see if that will help.
This situation is a real bummer cuz I have their links imbedded all over my site and reqularly promote them through my ezine as well. It means I will need to find another affiliate program with similar resources to replace them with, because once I report them, the relationship will probably be over.
Guess that's all a part of process with online marketing. Live and learn, get over it and move on... _________________ guitar2tr

You could try emailing them and say you're thinking seriously of dropping them. List all your concerns, including late payment, no replies to emails and disconnected phone number. If you have more than one email address, send it to each address to increase the chance it will be read.
Years ago, I kept promoting a company which came up with excuse after excuse as the payments got later and later, and then it went broke owing me thousands.
Sometimes with very small businesses, personal problems or a death in the family can cause serious disruptions which make things look worse than they are.
I say give them a chance to explain. Then decide what to do. _________________ Allan Gardyne

A 4 year track record is pretty solid.
I think Allan has a good point. Offer them a chance to explain and see if they can get things back on track for you. The fact that you're getting paid is definitely a positive sign.
If it's a one time glitch, then you should be fine. But if it becomes a pattern, you may want to reconsider the relationship.
It sounds like you have your own web site so that is definitely in your favor. You would be able to continue on the momentum of previous promotions while you restructure and set up new links on your site (provided you find a suitable replacement). _________________ -----------------------------

Glad your payment is on the way! And yes I do agree with the opinions to at least give them a chance to explain. But make sure they aren't just blowing you excuses. Yes things do happen with businesses that can cause a negative effect on their image. Remember that businesses are run by humans - and humans are well..Humans, not perfect. So give them a chance to straighten-up and try to understand their situation (and they'd better have some good heart-felt excuses and apologies.) If they don't, then let them know that you're definitely not a happy camper if business between you all continue to operate like this. At that point either they can straighten-up or ship out! Nothing personal just business. Never feel desperate to put up with an affiliate program that isn't treating you fair. You work hard for the money and generate them good profit. And if they can't pay you on schedule as promised - then drop 'em and move on to the competition. Thanks so much for the imput and good advice guys. I agree that I should
| Quote: | | give them a chance to explain |
but be prepared with an alternative plan just in case the pattern continues.
It's a good program that's been around for a while. They keep expanding and perhaps it's becoming harder to manage. But I don't think their affiliates should have to pay for it... if you know what I mean
Alan- you offer a very good service here and I just want you to know that I appreciate it very much. It's great to know that there are still some people working online that you can trust. Thank you! _________________ guitar2tr
