Post subject: Images and Adsense?
|
|
|
If Adsense relies on understanding context of your written page to adjust its ads. What happens if you have a site that relies heavily on images on each page. I guess its up to the image tags to provide that information.
Its been a while since I placed images so I how no idea what the limit (word limit) to a image tag is and no idea if theres any difference to Adsense - in effect comparing it to visible (to the human eye) writtern content. This question applies to say a podcast also. I assume it would be the same? |

The research I've done suggests keeping it to 3 or 4 relevant words. Since the images should have some relationship to your page, it's a good idea to keep the text in line with the image, including a keyword, or two in the process.
If you are selling bird products, you don't want to go gird feeder, birdfeeder, bird feeder or birdhouse, bird house, birdhouse. Rather sunflower design bird feeder, purple martin birdhouse, etc.

Adsense sent out an email yesterday addressing this very issue. They say if you rely heavily on non-text content (images, videos, flash, etc.) it will be hard for the crawler to accurately determine what your site is about, and hence, you may get poorly targeted ads or even public service ads.
They suggest that you add complete sentences and paragraphs to your page. They can't tell us exactly how much text to include, but suggest imagining your site without the pictures and videos, which will give you a good idea of what the crawler sees. I guess it's pretty much common sense.
Yes, they say that image titles and tags (alt tags) will be helpful. _________________ Listen to this Powerful FREE Audio (Worth $47) - Limited time offer to learn the secret to success.

You should add complete sentences and paragraphs to your pages not just to help AdSense serve up appropriate ads, but for another very important reason - to help your pages rank well in search engines.
Popular sites are found via 10,000 or 20,000 or more different phrases a month. The more relevant words you have on your site, the more chances you have that people will find your site.
I recommend you have at least 300 words on each page, preferably more. _________________ Allan Gardyne
