Kia ora Allen. Hope you are soaking up that sun in Q-land. Its blistering cold here in Auckland...Im still at this computer and has been many many full days getting my head round all this.

Do affiliate programs, for example clickbank - joined to have a poke about - have a way to categorise by country. ie, if I have a site and wish to recommend a product I would want that product to be locally sourced for a kiwi buyer.
1) it gives me perhaps a chance to see a product in action something say a household power inverter from a solar panel and 2) cuts down on carbon emissons etc if its from a local distributor.

I am a bit of a greenie and hope that selling product is not going to be to difficult if most of the affiliates are US based and I have to recommend US sites to kiwi's 1) the product isn't sold in NZ and 2) maybe Kiwi sites don't have many affiliate things going on here in NZ.

I mean I'd feel a bit of a fraud if I couldn't see a working example of things I was selling or at least really get to know the products. I could skyp the sellers and some end users across the US to work out i guess. Im pretty fussy recommending things that I wouldn't use myself in a given situation.

Sometimes I feel that many of the things I really like perhaps aren't particularly product orientated. Like chilling out in the bush and rivers. Clearly if a site is to work I need to think global as the power of the net is in the small but cumilative effect of thousands of transactions that add up. But its hard ie; to 'save the whales' or whatever when large NGO's find it difficult to find ideas for an income stream to do it. hmmm I shall press on.

There's an affiliate network which specializes in UK programs and at least one that specializes in Australian programs. ClickBank lists only downloadable products - ebooks and software.

You can find some New Zealand affiliate programs by typing "new zealand" (WITHOUT quotes) into the search box at the top of this page. Click the little down arrow. Select "Search Affiliate Programs". Click Search. You'll find 3 pages of affiliate programs that mention New Zealand.

You could also try doing searches in Google like...
keyword +"affiliate program" +"new zealand"

For example, a search for...

posters +"affiliate program" +"new zealand"

...will take you to ProductsFromNZ.com.

There are solar power companies in Australia. It MIGHT be possible to arrange a deal where you're paid for sending them leads. It would probably be easier, though, to sell US solar power gear to US customers.

Just because you live in NZ, you don't have to limit your selling to Kiwis. As you say, think global.

Another option would be to concentrate on books, magazines, DVDs, calendars etc on the topic.

Good. That will come through in your writing.

It wouldn't be hard to find books, DVDs and posters on tramping - or hiking as the Americans call it - and hiking gear.

Cheers for the reply Allen. Yes I have a few more concepts and things sorted out now. I quite like this distilling process because it leads you many directions that I would not have discovered otherwise.

I think I was pretty trashed from being up 24 hours online combing through info and concepts - I wrote that question not really thinking things through. Thanks Obi.

Hi Obi,

I'm a fellow Aucklander. Live on the Shore =) Have you used streaming video in your marketing before?

Kia ora, best cash flow - been busy on a film shoot and haven't had much time on this forum recently.

Ummmm you say 'have I used streaming video in my marketing'. I don't actually have a site as yet. Im just new to the whole web as a tool to express myself and perhaps make some coin aswell.

I understand some of the technology as some of it I deal with in TV production - Im a cameraman. Video is definately something I will explore for my site. I feel very comfortable with it in production, post and online.
I don't know what server costs are in NZ and bandwidth issues guess ill delve into that soon enough. At the moment I'm just figuring out a niche and getting to grips with things like Adsense and affiliate marketing. Smile

You're doing it again... Thinking about New Zealand because you live in New Zealand.

Stop that immediately! Smile

You're on the big wide Interweb, obi. You're now officially a member of the global village.

Walk down the street and explore the village. Host your site anywhere in the global village where you can get the best service at a good price. You don't need to host it with your neighbor over the back fence.
