Hi,
My SEO client is wanting to implement an affiliate program. They are an established player in a very competitive software market space with a great product, but are unsure which network/s to use.
We would like to have a paid for consultative discussion with someone fully & professionally conversant with the different network products.
Any recommendations please?

There are only a handful of players. Why not contact them directly and see what they have to offer.

PepperJam is doing a nice job with their product and has signed up Ebay away from CJ so they are worth looking into.
What you are really buying is access to the "Network" of Affiliate Marketers. Take a look at your competitors and who they are using. CJ has excellent reporting features for seeing who is successful and who is not.
Recruiting your own affiliates can be a long process; especially in Software.
Finding a consultant of they type your are asking for is not going to be easy in affiliate forums as you are really asking questions from an Advertisers View where the majority of visitors see things from a Publishers viewpoint. _________________ FREE SEO and Keyword Suggestion Tools Proven Traffic Generator
It looks like what we'll do is sign up with both Google Networks and Pepperjam. We will also probably then approach Shawn Collins for his consulting service to guide us with:
structuring a compelling comm and incentive offering for affiliates, putting in adequate support infrastructure, then advise how best to recruit quality affiliates.
A little hand-holding initially should help us get it right first time and fast-track the process.
Wouldn't it be great if we could all just recruit the best of the best?
Sure in some networks like CJ you are scored and you may not appeal to the average schmuck who is looking for the big payout (i.e. the guy who doesn't make a living in this business, but wants to).
Noobs always look at those numbers and think the only way they can make money is to pick those High Paying programs.
So yes that is one approach and it may work. The pros are going to look at those numbers, but they are also going to look at the product and the offer. Because they know if it's a good product and it's set up right they can make money. Those numbers don't apply so much.
Amazon didn't worry too much about who... they just set their cookie and next to nothing and let everyone and anyone throw up those links.
So you have to find the balance that works good for you and doesn't tap your resources.
You can make 90% of $100 or you can make 10% of $1,000... not exactly a wash, but you should get what I'm saying.
Pepperjam has a nice interface and they seem to be doing a lot of things right, but they do not have the reach of CJ yet. I do expect them to grow into a dominate player as long as they can keep everyone onboard and happy.
