Post subject: ClickBank Reporting

Given that ClickBanks reporting is basic to say the least (!), what are most folks using to get statistics for their click-throughs? Any particularly good freebie PHP scripts or the like?
I am promoting two ClickBank merchants and whilst I am making sales, it's very difficult to know which of my links they are coming from, and whilst trying different strategies I'd really like to know which are the most profitable.
Cheers,

This is a very common problem with many merchants and networks...
Unfortunately, you cannot set up a script yourself that will track as far as the sale without the cooperation of the merchant. Once the visitor gets to their server, no amount of scripting on your part will be any help whatsoever.
You can track how many visitors you send them from each link, but that's all. Since different traffic sources often lead to drastically different sales CRs, this is of little use, other than a basic check.
I heard second hand from someone who runs a very large and popular affiliate program, that most affiliates do not ask for tracking to the sale, so he is not planning to implement it. It looks as though many other affiliate managers feel the same way.
The only way to get things changed, is for us all to demand it, so it becomes the norm. The problem is, testing isn't *** enough for most people to bother.
Sorry for the bad news,

That's a real shame. I suspect, although I have no way of knowing this, that "most" people who sign up as affiliates probably do little more than stick a banner ad on their site and leave it at that. If this is true, these are probably the same "most" that arent interested in decent reporting. If the networks realised that the small percentage of affiliates who are prepared to work at making good sales could benefit from proper reporting, they'd be doing themselves a big favour.
Almost all of my website revenue currently comes from AdSense and ClickBank, and between them they have the worst reporting of all the affiliates I'm signed up with. Hang on a minute, I've just shot down my own argument now! Well, not quite, all my other affiliates are very new to me so I havent done as much with them yet.

| facing the same problem. sending traffic to clickbank through various sources, so unsure of each source's conversion rate. one possible solution is to open a separate clickbank account for each source - not sure this is allowed though. contacted clickbank CS yesterday for help. |

I think that's almost certainly the case.

The case I was referring to was an independent affiliate program with strong tracking. They know the facts better than we do, but they still seem to have different priorities.
All the best,
