Post subject: Questions for Debs.

HI Debs, I notice you too (like I am) are a follower and listener of James Martell. You seen to know a lot. I just finished my first affilate site, 100 articles written by me, links, submission all all James tell. It's the first month so far since my submission to google and checking my stats, I see hits coming from yahoo, google, and aol. Moving onto to my next 2-3 sites.
Anyway, I figure you could help me out with this question. I've emailed james' support but havent got a reply? Been about 4 days and no reply.
Question 1: When searching google and checking keywords on sites for backward links that are good do I search using quotes if it has multiple words such as "multiple words" or just multiple words?
Questions 2: I believe James stated about this in the handbook but wasn't to clear on it. When checking backwards links on google sometimes for example a site in #1 position may have 5 backwards links with a pagerank of 5 but when I check position #2 and #3 & even #4 there backwards links are high like 100, 300 or 400 with pageranks of 5 and 6?
Does James recommend you go over these words still? Should I try and get that #1 shot with a little backwards link which I could beat or not? I know James says something like Google is still a little shaky on it and is not totally correct all the time.
Thanks in Adv. debs

James doesn't offer support unless you signed up for his mentoring. You can however log into the help center and find answers and updates there.

Google results will show top pages with exact match first, then split matches after. I just tested it out and got different results with and without quotes. For backlinks I would go without quotes, since the majority of people search without quotes.

I've seen that too, it could be for different reasons ... a new site on top that hasn't "settled" into final position yet (quite common actually) ... or it could be because they are the only site to use the entire keyphrase together, as opposed to splitting. (see #1 above)

You need to look at the results closely. If #1 has the exact phrase, and the others don't, you have a good chance hitting #2. If, however, they all have the exact phrase, I would move on to another phrase, unless you can beat the backlinks on the top results. Remember, you don't have to be first to get clicks but you will get a lot more of them in first and second position.
