Post subject: Fraudulent Activity on Banner Ad

Hi,
I have a serious problem. There has been some fraudulent activity noticed on a paid banner ad that I was hosting on my website.
Apparently, someone or something (software?), has been driving up the clicks, thus bringing me under suspicion. I was asked to remove all the banners and my advertising aggreement with the company has been canceled.
Is there any person, or web service, that can help me find out what is going on?

My account was set up by the merchant who was advertising on my site. The log files in my account only show that the number of clicks are significantly higher than the previous month. Here is a portion of the letter I received from the merchant...
"After further investigation, we've come across quite a bit of data that points to fraudulent activity through your account for the month of May. There are hundreds of impressions and clicks from the same exact IP addresses. Here is a bit of the data through your account that's currently fraudulent (number of impressions, user agent, ip address):

The clicks are spaced evenly throughout the day, clicks sent each hour are based on intervals of seven: 7, 14, 21, or 28. This is not a normal traffic pattern; this is something generated by software. We have a very strict policy on this type of activity and will not allow it to continue."
I do not know where he got this information or how to interpret it. I also do not understand how it occured or how to prevent it from occuring again.
