Perhaps an error an was made in your case. If so, don't be too hard on the moderator, Wally. He's working under extremely tough conditions because I haven't written a neat set of rules for him. So if mistakes are made, it's my fault. _________________ Allan Gardyne

I have been using them for a while and they are the best I've ever used! Here are some of the reasons I use them:
- 1,000 MB Space
- 5 GB Traffic/Day! (not Month!)
- Resource Center & Community
- 2 Months FREE + FREE Domain
- $7.77 a month
Their control panel is very user friendly and find it easy to add or make changes to anything!
Cusomter Support is also top notch for this compnay. They always respond it a timely manner and will stick it out with all of your hosting, and even design, problems. Great forum there too! _________________ Free Software builds pages of content over time! - Claim it here SpywareBlockingSite.com for Sale - $149

Sorry, Gerry, if you are offended.
The policy I've been implementing is that if a URL is prominently displayed in a new topic, there may be a promotion and I explained what would happen. I don't have time to check every such link. The instruction page said to add to an existing topic as a "reply" with a URL and sufficient explanation and it will stand.
A new topic needs much more introduction to substantiate a URL as relevant. Maybe I over-reacted ... but I am consistent. Re-list your topic with a good explanation, and perhaps put the URL in the signature file for more credibility.
Best wishes with your visits to the Board. You'll find the visitors very helpful, in general!!!

For registering a domain name, I am considering namecheap.com or godaddy.com. Which one I should prefer? Any ideas?
I had a recent bad experience with namecheap - they weren't sending out notice that domains were due to expire or had expired. As a result one of my domains expired without me noticing. When I went to their site the domain had already disappeard from my control panel so there was no option to renew. Registering again didn't work as it says the domain is already registered. When trying to contact them they have no phone numbers on their website (the renewal was urgent as this domain was being used for our nameservers). I had to go to enom.com and look up namecheaps telephone number there (namecheap are an enom reseller) but that just went through to an answerphone.
In the end they did respond to our emails and renewed it for us, but by that time it was a bit too late to prevent the problems that occured from our nameservers being unreachable. Just remember that you get what you pay for, and if you want emergency telephone support, dont expect it unless you go for one of the big players.

Thanks for the understanding Allan. My post may have actually looked promotional since I certainly like very much the websites I recommended, but the websites were certainly not mine or affiliate ones.
I considered raising this issue about my post when it has been moved. But since you were undergoing a difficult period, it did not seem fair to me to bring up a complaint-like issue at that time.
I must say I highly regard you and associateprograms.com is certainly among my favorite websites.

Yes I know there is currently an instruction page, however at that time it wasn’t. I was actually unsure whether to respond at the SitBuildIt thread, or open a new thread. I decided the latter since my response would be a general one and considered it would be also useful for others. Also at some forums people are insistent that the post’s topic should match the category it’s written under.
I understand when a new thread is started with just one link and its description, it’s hard to know if it is self-promotional or not. However when 3 or more alternative options (links) from the same category are described, I find it very unlikely that the message would be self promotional. Especially if there are no affiliate links, the possibility that the poster would own all the websites is much reduced. So a possible suggestion would be a differential treatment of these kinds of messages.
Private registrations are just $9 (this way your address and mail doesn’t show up on whois queries). Godaddy is, as far as I know, the leader in domain selling and if paying a few $ more isn’t a problem for you, you should definitely choose Godaddy.
There are many good and cheap options in hosting too.
Generous and cheap packages which come to my mind are at:
5G/month – 3$/year
15G/month and more features -10$/year
It’s a pity there isn’t a mysql support at the first package, but the offer is still nice.
When it comes to choosing a hosting company it’s usually a good idea to look at hosting directories too. My favorite directory is at:
http://www.findmyhosting.com/
There are many good offers here under $10/year.
The search facility is the best I ever saw and results are returned with the best price first. All offers are rated by previous users and comments are also made. Like always you should be careful, because the hosting managers could make some comments themselves.
The best thing at this directory is that you can check the uptime history of all the companies which are featured. Previously this kind of information was only available from rumors.
At - http://www.whois.sc - you can check how many accounts are hosted at a server you wish to buy the hosting from. It’s usually a good idea to make sure it’s under 200-300, especially if you buy consistent bandwidth.
Also a good tool to verify a host’s ping time (speed) is at:
