I'd say no, it's not really something that helps people shop. The only place I've ever found background music on a website to be nice is if you're using a flash site... except no one builds a flash site for affiliate marketing... might be nice though, who knows? _________________ Rx-Commission.com - Up to 50%; FULL range of products; Weekly payouts.
I wouldn't do it. Speaking from personal experience, I almost always click away from a site that has music auto-play when the page loads. _________________ Partner with America's Best!

Yes, thumbs down on auto-play music, except perhaps on sites that are specifically about music, and even then, auto-play is probably best avoided.
But...
Anything that keeps visitors on your site, hooks their imagination, gets them talking about you, earns you a link, brings them back, is worth considering.
Multi-media can be a compelling hook sometimes, even if it's not directly on topic.
Please forgive me, or yell at me, but I just have to share a free gadget I made for this very purpose.
It's a free portable music video player, that can be added to your site, featuring home made music and music instruction from a variety of sources.

If you are a musician or sell music it might help you to have your music playing. I never heard music on an e-commerce site, and it might cause your page to load slower, causing shoppers to leave. _________________ Make Money On-line at TheCashRoom! The Presidents HTML Tutorial
