Hi everybody,

I am only new. I have written an E-Book on Family Travel.

I have signed up with companies to be an affiliate through this site. They are all related to my book.

I cannot work out how to add their text or banner links/codes to the E-Book.

Can you help me?

Michael

Assume that you're using Microsoft Word. If so, here are the step:

Hilite the word / sentence that you wanna hyperlink > right click and you'll see > hyperlink and a box will display:

Text to display : it will automatically filled with whatever you've hilited

Screen tip: Change to anything you want. But will not work in a pdf ebook. So, you may just leave it.

Target frame: change to any option you want but will not work in a pdf as well. So, leave this too.

Address: this is where you'll put your affiliate link eg: http://myid.vendor.hop.clickbank.net etc.

Click OK and you're done. Your pdf converter will make this word / sentence clickable and sent them to the address that you've just specified above.

If you want to place banner / pictures etc instead. Just copy and paste the banner / picture into the document and then right click while your mouse is on the banner / pic > click on hyperlink and follow above steps.

If you're using other word processor the step are more or less the same.

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.

When I followed your process I found that when I put the affiliate code into the address box, I would only be able to open the hyperlink in the E-Book through a right button click and then click open hyperlink. When it opened, it took me straight to merchant affiliate page with all banners and text links. That is where I started. Shouldn't it take me to the the merchant home page or page I want to promote.

Maybe I shouldn't put the affiliate code in the address box. Is affiliate code and affiliate link different?

I am using Microsoft word.

Thanks for your help.

Regards
Michael

When you are adding affiliate links to your ebook PDF it really depends on the PDF maker that you are using

Some of the older PDF makers required you to go into the PDF once you had created it and make the links "live" one by one

The newer versions dont require to do this anymore - the software simply converts all the links across automatically for you

However I would be careful NEVER to list your bare affiliate code in an eBook document - people online are a bit more savvy than that, and will avoid your affiliate codes if they possibly can. This is particularly true with clickbank, and in addition if you have affiliate links in a compiled PDF ebook, and the affiliate product is withdrawn - an all too frequent occurance - you are going to be promoting a load of website that will pay you nothing

So what I would always advise is that you protect your affiliate code so that you are NOT putting anything with the dreaded hop.clickbank anywhere

Make your affiliate links look professional by using a framed page on your website with no top frame. You simply create a webpage with essentially nothing in it, but with 2 frames - the top one being set to ZERO and the bottom frame being your affiliate website

If an affiliate product is pulled off clickbank - and this happens to lots of products every week! - you can then simply change the webpage with a new product. You don't want to get stuck with dead links in your PDF eBook which you can't change

Id use subdomains redirected to aff links. Then if the product is changed or discontinued, you can easily make the changes you need.
