Hi. I have a page promoting digital cameras. I was wondering if anyone could recommend the best merchant for me to promote between Amazon and TigerDirect. Or maybe there's another merchant that would be better than both? Thanks.

Test them both, run one for a month and another for another month

Take a peek at other affiliate sites in the market of cameras and see what companies they are promoting

You can also promote the Ebay affiliate program. One of the drawbacks of Amazon is that they only have a one day tracking cookie...(or so I'm told)

i'm not sure that's true. I'm sure it's a few months...3 in fact. ebay's cookie is 7 days. ebay makes the most money, or used to before they decided to go it alone (like amazon) but i've had problems ever since, and my income has drop by 60%, so i'm looking to promote another product outside of ebay. and of course ebay never addresses the problem...i've sent email after email, and i've receive no reply, it's not good, but try it first. you might have better luck than me.

Amazon uses session IDs which last 24 hours. For the affiliate to earn a referral fee, the customer must buy the product or put it in a shopping basket within 24 hours.

That's disgusting, I reckon.

However, you have to balance that against the fact that Amazon has wonderful brand recognition, which boosts trust and helps increase sales.

There are a whole lot of factors to consider when deciding whether to promote a merchant. In most cases in affiliate marketing you either get a sale immediately or you don't. (Careful research has been done on this - this isn't just speculation.) A longer cookie life sounds really good and seems fair, but in reality it won't make much difference to your sales.
