I don't know where you think everyone on here is selling ebooks? Most people on this forum have sites promoting other items, some hardgoods, some software, services, etc. But most are affiliates for other merchants, and yes some do sell ebooks.
Could you maybe provide more detail about what you mean?

| Well I found a few or 'most' of the posts about selling eBooks online and making money that way... I haven't read any posts about selling things like "Toyota, Sony, Dell, Television, etc". I think more people would buy more of the things I have just said... plus you make fortunes! |

Not really.
You have four options to sell a physical good.
1) Make it yourself
2) Buy it then resell it
3) Drop ship it
4) Do affiliate sales
Here is an overview of each:
#1 - Very time consuming, and not something that can be done for all products
#2 - This means you are essentially a retailer. This means inventory, which means storage and insurance. And credit card processing and shipping costs. Your profit margin is very very low.
#3 - You have credit card processing costs, but no inventory, storage or shipping costs. Profit margins are beter than #2, depending on where you sell.
#4 - No inventory, credit card costs, inventory or storage. You just get the person from their PC to the site of the company selling ProductX. That site then handles all the sales portion, and pays you a percentage. With physical goods, this percentage is small... usually around 10 to 15%.
You can make fortunes with any of the above routes. It just depends on how much time and cash you want to put into it. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Since there are lots of onlineshops promoting not only golf equipment, but also golf vacations etc, I am sure there is a big market.
I would think that people who are time pressed and people who already know what they want (looking or a bargain) buy online. But this again depends on the type of product you sell. _________________ Explore The Most Up to Date Site About How to Succeed with Adwords! |

My husband buys golf equipment online all the time! Plus he researches golf trips, etc. too. Most of his golfing buddies do the same. It's rare to find what they want locally, and it's too darn expensive. Only place around here to get golf stuff is at the local Pro shop.

Plenty of people here sell non-ebook stuff. Allan and Rupert of AssociatePrograms.com even put out two case study sites, one is a computer hardware affiliate, and the other a DJ equipment affiliate. Try to look for the case studies from the home page of this site.
I would not recommend getting into casino marketing. It is true that commissions are high, but, it is a very competitive field. There are a ton of sites out there trying to push online casino gambling. Each of them containing pretty much the same type of information (there isn't that much you can say about gambling) and trying to outsmart the others in attracting traffic. If you choose almost any other field you'll get a mix of sites trying to make money, and hobby sites. In the gambling field nearly 100% of the sites exist for the sole purpose of making money, and therefore compete with you! How do I know this? I tried it myself.
Also, if you become a casino affiliate you'll have to convince people to gamble. You have to make them believe they should play because it's good for them and they can win. This is something I couldn't bring myself to do very well. It 's a conflict of interests; you are trying to tell people gambling is good for them and at the same time counting on their looses. If you don't care about that, it's fine, but the competition is likely to kill you anyway in this field.
Regards,
Yaron |

My brother-in-law in New Zealand did, from an American-based web site. He bought expensive golf clubs and saved several hundred dollars by buying them online instead of through a local shop - and he told all his friends.
You may be pleasantly surprised.

Hi,
In an article on my site I quote a person saying:
'In the old days, a dissatisfied customer told about it to 6 friends. In the days of the 'Net, he will tell it to 6.000.'
I guess that also goes for satisfied customers.... _________________ DatabaseDesigner

Thanks guys. I'm a little more confident now.
But, as everyone says, this is my first affiliate site and I should base it on something that I love to do. Im looking into a few other products that may be more profitable.
Also, my next site will go a more "personal" route, but I havent quite found the right subject matter yet. I know right now that my current site is fairly generic and Im looking at ways to change that. That said, everyone I have shown really likes the look and flow of the site.
Im thinking of springing for SBI, but am weary about spending that much money at this time.. _________________ Discounted Golf Equipment
