Post subject: Should I spend my money? Site submission tools.
|

What are your opinions on site submission tools that promise to index you in the leading engines? Has anyone done this? Im simply wondering because Im a little afraid that I wont be able to generate any traffic until next month. And even then it seems to be a 50/50 shot.
The product that im looking into is "Traffic Blazer." It is offered for $20 through my webhost and it seems to have a pretty nice set of options/features. link:

Can anyone give their honest opinion before I dive in? Thanks! |

Personally, I strongly recommend hand submission over any "mega-auto-submit-yada-yada" tools.
It's partly because there are only 4 or 5 main engines that you DEFINITELY want to get listed in...

...and a hand submission ensures that the submission process will be done properly.
Note that most engines do not just lis everything that's submitted. For Google, you need at least one page linking to your site in order to get it listed. So what I recommend is to find some good link partners, list in Open Directory and some theme directories... and then submit to the major search engines.
Be patient, resumbit every two weeks or so if you don't see the results. It works. |

The best tools for site submission, IMO, are located at www.selfpromotion.com (that's outside of SBi of course lol) Do a search on the forum for this domain, you will see some great info on the site, and I do highly recommend it. I've used it for my non-sbi sites and it works. I will be using it again soon for some non-sbi sites I am building. Best of all, it's free, but a small donation (as little as $10 US a year) gets you access to other great tools and resources not available otherwise.
IF you have more to spend, spend it on content and a directory listing or two (not SE), like Yahoo, JoeAnt and/or Inktomi.

If you want to spend money on getting yourself into search engines and directories, pay Yahoo for a listing, maybe even Inktomi, but don't ever use those sites that will submit you to 9 billion search engines for just $9.99. If your marketing plan for your site is good, you won't even really have to submit to search engines, even manually. _________________ http://www.smallbusinessforum.com

From my experience, if you have 1-2 links on another sites, and the web pages link to you has a PR4 or above, you even don't need to submit your site. Major search engines can find your site especailly Google. I have 2 sites getting indexed within 3-4 days.
The only major engine I suspect that whether they will find your site without submission is Altavista. _________________ Download Reciprocal Link Exchange Software

StrayPixel,
There are few things you can do to regarding site promotion, one thing is to write and submit articles to various article directory sites. You can visit google and search for article directories, you will find well over a million sites.
Also, as linkautomate suggested linking to other sites is a great idea. Check out this ebook called Powerlinking by Jack Humphrey for ideas on how you can do this. Good luck. _________________ The Home Business Professional Ideas and Opportunities Resource!
