I've read several eBooks on Affiliate Marketing and feel like I'm ready to jump in. I'm especially interested in CPL/CPA. I'd really like to join a few of the well-reviewed Affiliate Programs (CJ, etc.) and research the advertisers but most of these pgms. seem to require an active website to approve a publisher application. Thus, my problem! Until I research the various CPA opportunities I don't know which one (niche, etc.) I'll choose, so dont have a website. I have some ideas to focus on but am not to the point to know which niche, get a domain and build a site yet. I want to see what the details are for advertisers.
Do I need to put up a generic site?
Would a simple Blog work?
Do they expect to see an active site with appropriate content BEFORE they approve someone?
We need to have a website or blog (recommended). However, it should be niche specific, not generic.

I recommend you start a blog with a niche and start posting 1 or 2 posts to it daily for atleast a week. After that, you may apply to CJ or other networks. It will be easy to join.
As far as the companies in CJ are concerned, most of them check whether your website or blog is related to their product/service.
