Oh yes. It is definitely worth doing.
You may not get the result soon, but it will grow eventually later on.
To make it more viral, you can let your customer brand your product or ebook into their very own.

Yup, no argument there. Although we are giving a free viral ebook or software to other people, it does not mean we can give them a crappy product. People are very smart nowadays, if they feel the product is good, they will have no hesitation to give it to their friends. But if the product has zero content with no good information inside it, then it will not become viral at all.
