Hi! Long time lurker, first time poster.

We have finally reached the point in our business where we are *almost* ready to open our affiliate marketing division. Affiliate websites are automated through my company so besides the initial start up cost (and of course the $50-75 per sale commission) I wouldn't have to invest too much into getting the program underway.

However, I have no idea where to go to market to potential affiliates. I belong to some work at home boards but affiliate programs aren't routinely embraced there because people automatically assume the business owner is trying to push their program on them. I've seen it time and time again. The post can emphatically state that there is no cost to be an affiliate and no obligation to buy/subscribe/cold call, etc but the poster still gets flamed and scolded. I don't want to endure that from my peers.

Therefore I have finally decided to post here and ask for any suggestions. I am open to any ideas on a good way to market myself to potential affiliates. Any ideas?

Have you thought about going through one of the networks? If your conversion rate is good and your sales profit (minus affiliate commission) gives you enough of a margin to cover the network fees, then, essentially, you can't lose.

I hadn't thought about that. Which would you recommend?

Thank you both for your great ideas and support. I appreciate it greatly. Smile

No recommendations as such, because I work as an affiliate and I have no experience of dealing with the networks from the merchant side of things. But Linkshare, Share-a-Sale and Commission Junction are some of the best known.

Noted. I have an account as an affiliate on CJ so I'll check out the merchant side of things. Thanks!

Some traffic exchanges allow you to promote affiliate sites. By visiting other peoples sites you will send more visitors to your affiliate link. By spending an hour or 2 a day you can drive anywhere from 30-100 hits everyday to your affiliate links or sign up page. If you get 1% who join that's another sign up per day. In a month or 2 you can gain a lot of people under you ( if it is a 2 tier program or MLM) of which you will most likely get a commision off their sales. Over the course of time you will end up with a small army of people generating commision for you with no further effort on your part. In my humble opinion it is worth the time invested to acheive this residual income.

Thank you. The problem is that I am facing is that my program is not MLM. I am the owner of the company and I am simply looking for affiliates to help me market the company for sales and affiliates only make money on sales. Therefore, I am only making money on sales, not sign ups. We pay handsomely, on a two tiered method, $50 for 10 sales up to $75 per credit repair sale, but I just don't know how to make it work by clicking on other's links. Would it work the same? I don't even know how to package it to drive traffic to my sign up page. I took a member's advice and joined ListJoe and have been actively doing that but I'm not seeing any results and I think perhaps I'm doing it wrong or because I'm not pay per click or MLM. Hmmm...

One of the most effective ways is to go to conferences where affiliates hang out and approach them individually. Eye-to-eye contact can be very powerful. Another effective way is to identify potential affiliates through Google searches and then phone them.

Here are a couple of articles I wrote with a lot more methods...

Why not try Clickbank.com or CJ.com
those are big networks, but I believe they will get you a good number of affiliates.

creditrepairwoman,

There are a number of services offering credit repair for a fee but many of them are basically shams. They lead people to believe they can just pay a fee and everything will be restored to normal.

I think if you assure potential affiliates that your product or service is not like that and offer some means of verification, you'll get a lot of referrals to more affiliates once you have a just a few affiliates. This is a type of product that is in great demand.

I could not open ClickBank account in Malaysia so join other affiliates. Malaysia is blacklisted in ClickBank due to high credit card fraud.

Luckily I still can earn money from other affiliates

I suggest you make JV first.

Leverage your effort by creating JV projects with big marketers that have big list. Offer them a generous commission.

From her, you will recruits hordes of affiliates, starting from scratch.

Good luck Smile
