Hello
I messed up my menu and forgot to add the .htm after my url , now there is a display error when a search is conducted on google for a particular page.
My question is , it seems like I have been getting re-spidered every couple days , has anyone else noticed this .
Any ideas how long it will take to get re-spidered if the spider does not came back as usual.
You can see what I am talking about if you do a google search for gaming monitor
my site is in the sig
Thanks
Jeff |

Jeff, how about a temporary redirect from the extensionless pages to the proper page? Or a redirect in the .htaccess file? At least until it gets reindexed.

Debs,
Good idea but I don't think it will work because it is already indexed in google like that. I set up a htaccess but it didnt work unless, I set it up wrong !
this is what I did
| Code: | errordocument 404 http://www.computer-gaming-system.com/computer-monitors/index.htm
errordocument 500 http://www.computer-gaming-system.com/computer-monitors/index.htm |
Thanks

that's wrong I'm sure but I am also sure I can't walk you through it lol
Basically you need to take the SE'd file and redirect it to the proper file, not reset your 404/500 error pages.
Do a search on Google for htaccess redirects you should come up with a good tutorial.

Once you see the correct pages show in the SERPS, then drop the redirect in the htaccess. That will take care of any "duplicate page" thing that "may" come out.

Great , Thanks again Debs
heres some of the code for future reference :
However, each re-direct has to be on the same line
Thanks again
Jeff

Jeff you should modify the code to read domain.com instead of your domain ... you are violating the posting guidelines by including your urls within the message
Debs
PS I love the domain you listed in the subject of the thread though! LOL _________________ Learn how to turn keyphrases into quality, well-targeted articles your visitors and SE's will love with Gary Antosh's new ebook "Web Content Made Easy!" |
