how to 301 redirect to a different domain name?

I want to redirect my exisiting site and files to another site. I know using 301 redirects is the right way to satsify Search Engine requirements.

Is there any way I just add a single 301 redirect from the existing domain (www.mysitenow.com) to (www.mysitelater.com)so that all folders and files trailing the old domain are redirected automatically to the new domain without having to manually redirect each file?

And how will this affect SE rankings?

The easiest way is to use htaccess.

I've written an article about it in the past.
