Post subject: Does the PR bleeds through the affiliate links?
|
|
|
Hi guyz!
Say, I have a page which has 5 in-text affiliate links. Will my PR bleed through these affiliate links?
If yes, what can I do? Shall I use javascript or cgi/perl redirecting or any other method so that the SEs dont follow the affiliate links, and so that the PR does not bleeds?
How do you guys embed your affiliate links? What works best for you? At this time, I use simple HREF links with onmouseover functions.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers!
Niz
P.S: I have just started to learn a bit of javascript and cgi/perl by myself. However, I dont get much time to learn all that cauz of my college. |

| The answer is definitely yes, your PR will leak thru additional links but Im sure a few outgoing links wont drop your PR points. Because everyone will always have outgoing links, theres nothing you can do to stop it. Just limit yourself to a few outgoing links. 3-5 maybe. |

Steve is right. Besides, you likely also have internal links on that page ... so if you do have say 5 internal links and 5 external links, then the pr will flow to 10 pages, 5 remaining on your site.
When you think of it like that, you lose less PR

You're right on the money with that one. Good site navigation is one of the keys to SEO. _________________ http://www.smallbusinessforum.com

I dont wanna loose even that much PR. So what method I shall use to embed affiliate links - javascript or cgi? What method are you using Debs for your affiliate links? Or are affiliate links on your site plain HREF?
Best wishes to everyone!

I don't worry about bleeding PR, I just work on getting more links in to offset it. Somethings are worth worrying about, others arent, IMO

I agree with Debs (and Larry) about not getting too hung up about "bleeding PR", but if you want to avoid it altogether javascript will work fine...
You can either create javascript links, or write href links using document.write.
Hope this helps,
