| hi! i'm having trouble getting my new web site promoted. and i dont have a lot of money, if any, to spend, so my question is...does anyone know how i could promote it, or increase the traffic for FREE!! please help! thanks a lot. |

| All I can tell you is that you are going to have to self promote it. You can write blogs about it, attach signature links so that people on message boards will see your web address. Also, some websites allow you to post articles for free, like www.digg.com. Use a search engine like google and look for websites that will promote your site for free. There is one called www.thenewestwebsites.com that will feature and promote your site for free. So basically, just get as many people as you can to stumble upon your web address. |

Article marketing
Email campaign
Forums, blogs and board postings to targeted audience
Social Bookmarking
Classified ads
Link Building
Etc. etc.

There are many ways that you can increase your sites traffic. The best way is SEO and word of mouth and not forgetting, viral marketing as well.
So here are some ways that you can try:
Link Exchanges
Article Creation & Submissions
Directory Submissions
SEO
Word of Mouth
Making some of your content viral
Giving out freebies with your websites link attached
Etc...

All the techniques listed above work well, but they take time. Try doing some research on Viral Marketing that may help as well. I have some tips on the secrets section of my website as well. Just remember it does take time.

Blogging and social bookmarking using OnlyWire.com is quick and it is free. Also look at the right hand sidebar of this page and subscribe to Allan Gardyne's newsletter. Then read his "77 Ways To Get nearly all Free Traffic" report and you will be busy for awhile getting free traffic.

Anything that would attract visitors, be it word of mouth, link baits, etc. is favorable in a marketing perspective. What matters is the level of traffic that converts. A viral marketing campaign can prove beneficial if it brings in targeted traffic that converts

Recently I am keeping my self busy building backlinks - that would help in my SEO and draw targeted traffic overtime. Have been getting some really good results with it

Here's three quick ways to start driving traffic to your website for free that're highly effective and work fast...
#1 - Participate in Free Giveaways
Many people don't really teach on using giveaways and I don't really know why. But there's nothing to them. You can give anything you want away for free that you own the rights to.
Your own free report (doesn;t have to be long, some of the best free reports are no more than 10 pages, sometimes less). Your own products. Maybe even give away a free sample of your product. Really, anything goes as long as the giveaway allows and you don't infringe on anyone's rights or license terms.
OR...
You can put on your own free giveaway event if they're not common in your niche and generate an absolute stampede of hot, targeted visitors to your site.
Not only will you promote your website for free with lots of marketing power, but you'll have a large email list to begin marketing to as well.
#2 - Article Marketing
I don't want you to think that writing articles is long and boring and doesn't generate traffic quickly (because that's what most people believe or think at first blush).
However, if you put your article writing beywond just article directory submissions (which you defninitely should do) and re-use your article for other promotional methods they can be extremely effective.
First, make sure your article is rich with keywords and phrases your target market is searching for and then begin submitting them to article directores all over the place, I recommend putting every article on at least 50 of these sites.
Most people aren't that committed but then again, most of those people don't get great results. I'd rather write one article a week and get massive results from lots of backlinks and increase my chances of getting it listed in the search engine than to write 20 articles an hour (stressful and undesirable...and not that plausible if you want to deliver quality articles and content to your target market - which you do) and hope one of them makes it "sometime".
Then, after that, post every article you write to your blog and capitalize on the traffic you can get from pinging your posts (use Pingoat.com or Pingomatic).
Then, promote your article using article announcement lists that you can search for using Google. Then, post your articles in newsgroups that are active in your niche.
Then, create and build a list of ezine/newsletter publishers to offer to syndicate your content in their publications and even on their websites (maybe even their blogs) which could give you more links and far more exposure.
#3 - Re-Purpose Your Content
Once you've done all of the above which will keep you busy for about six months and produce results (which WILL happen if you stick to it) you can use your article to create free reports that your affiliate can give away.
Or use them for more free giveaways, post them on free ebook and download sites, etc.
Turn them into mp3s and deliver them as podcasts on iTunes, etc.
Keep finding ways to re-use the same content and reach more people in your target market. In six months, you can be doing pretty well online using this outline.
That's my "2 cents" worth.
