That's a good point, Charlie, and certainly delegation facilitates working on many sites rather than just one. But personally I can't quite square not paying someone the full equivalent of the extra profit they help generate.
If I don't, it feels like exploitation and if I do, then I've spent as much as I gained and I might as well have done the job myself. I don't have any qualms about exploiting my own time and labour, but I feel very uncomfortable about doing the same to somebody else... this isn't new, it's just application of the theory of labour exchange... I have a feeling that none of my former employers ever read it!
I do have some ideas for other sites, but I have about 3000 pages to finish on this one first... ! |

I think almost everything can be outsourced if you choose. It just takes bravery.
One thing I'd always do myself though is marketing - certainly the strategic planning.
Just a thought,

I understand your feelings, but remember that you're applying your brainpower to the situation and also taking any risks.
Thousands of people can look at the same facts and fail to see a revenue-generating opportunity. Then you come along, spot the opportunity, and hire someone to do the work. To my way of thinking, your input is more valuable than the person who is following your instructions.
I paid someone to work full-time on a web site that lost money for its first 12 months. Using your way of thinking, I think it would have been fair to make him share those losses. Instead, I absorbed all the losses and persevered until the site became profitable.
If you want to share profits evenly, you could always form a full 50:50 partnership, but everyone I've ever discussed that idea with doesn't recommend it.
It would be better to form a company and give your employees options to buy shares at a fixed price a couple of years in the future. If your business booms, your employees will be richly rewarded. A win-win situation.

Maybe it depends what you need to offer and what you'll get in return...
If someone would write me a content site to my satisfaction I'd willingly offer them 50% of revenue for life. I have hundreds of ideas that will never get off the drawing board.
At the same time, I'd start by offering them less if I could.
Make the comparison with affiliate programs for information products. If I offered you 50% for all products in a lifetime program (including all future backend), would you think I was mad or just giving a strong offer?
(I'd created the products and had the ideas, but knew that I would get much more out of it via partners.)
It all comes back down to 50% of $1M or 100% of $10K. Pay as much as you need to get the extra income streams running.
Just my opinion,

I also agree that this is a great forum.
I have 2 affiliate related sites. One is making money and the other one isn't yet as it has only just been launch!
But I believe that they will both do as good as one another! _________________ Affiliate Programs Directory - Over 2,000 Programs
