| What happens if you can users have 2 different keywords for the same product. For example, if people searched for both 'computers' and 'PC',which keyword would you target as it is not possible to have 2 exact pages with only the keywords changed. |

So change the content, write 2 articles instead of one. Use computers as the target keyphrase for one page, and PC's for the other. Twice the content, twice the targeting, and a huge increase in opportunity to be found and convert.
Now, keep in mind those are "huge" generic keywords, get more specific, write more articles, and you will exponentially increase your chances for income.

I agree with Debs.
Be sure to use not only keywords but keyphrases, so it becomes a lot easier to compete.
So if you're discussing computer monitors, then better use the keyphrase "colored computer monitors", etc. The narrower and more precise the scope, the better.

The way I look at it, is that if you optimise for phrases you are almost always optimising for the main keywords (a subset of the keyphrase) anyway.
Surely you get the best of both worlds - an excellent chance at the less popular (but highly targeted) phrase, and multiple chances (with less chance) for the more popular and generic keywords within them.
Just a thought,
