Reverse Squeeze Page Example
Joe comes to your site from a Search Engine, to read your newsletter archive (it could just as well be a site full of cookery articles, pet articles or anything else).
Joe likes your site so after reading the first article, he clicks the links for a few more.
Joe reads a second article and then a third, but when he clicks to read a fourth article, instead of showing Joe the article page, the software redirects him to a Squeeze Page asking him to enter his name and email address before he can continue reading the articles on the site. It also offers him a nice free gift as a further incentive to enter his details.
Now at this point, Joe has already demonstrated an interest in your site and its subject matter. He clearly wants to read more - and you are offering that to him. You are also offering him a nice bonus gift - and all just for entering his details. I think you'll agree that there's a very good chance that Joe will now go ahead and enter his details and subscribe to your mailing list.
As soon as he does this, he can of course continue to read as many articles as he wants, without further distraction.

I was thinking about doing this but was wondering if anyone had good or bad experience with it. Any info would be helpful.

The key is to deliver tremendous value...
Actually, it is an excellent model. You may have less subscribers (not 100% true, you need to test), however, the quality of your subscribers will be 10 times better, since they opted in after a preview.
That means that they loved what they saw and need more.
I do this with free ebook, and add an opt-in form at the end.
I tested this lately, and the results was 50/50!
The subscribers who opted via the form in the ebook are better quality than the subscribers who opted via my squeeze page. _________________ ==> Affiliate Marketing Course | Affiliate Marketing Mentor

The thing is, you are offering an incentive to get the contact info, as opposed to letting people subscribe because of the content they expect as part of subscribing. Careful or you'll end up with a list with appalling response, even if you force out the initial bounces with confirmed opt in.

Ten times better for what? Surely it all depends how skillful you are at linking the ensuing email content with the information they originally expressed an interest in. If you just expect them to be quality subscribers, I say you risk a nasty surprise.
Perhaps much depends on the niche and how responsive or targeted you expect people to be.

Perhaps it's a better example of qualifying the traffic you are getting than building a quality list...
OK, any list is better than none, but I'd be nervous of paying to build a list this way - and I'm not talking about co-registrations...
Increasingly, I look at whether things are valuable enough to pay for as a sort of time-based means test.

I have to agree with charlie. I wouldn't bet on this... If you notice, lots of Membership websites do this... But they only give a preview of an article and to read the articles you have to get access.
This is definitely an interesting idea. However, I don't think I would do it. I suppose the opt-ins would be more targeted, but you could lose more targeted opt-ins simply from them being too lazy to read all of it, or if they read one, don't have time to read more, and then leave.
I think I'll stick to normal squeeze pages. But this idea certainly can work, I just don't think I'll utilize it. _________________ http://www.SuperSuccessfulSecrets.com
How do I earn money online? The same way you can.
The idea of a reverse squeeze page model already exists, and it is already done by some marketers with success. John Reese wrote about it in his "Rebirth Of Internet Marketing" report (free).
But is a bit other as your idea. With your idea I think that the problem is, as already stated above, that too many people read a bit and then leave the website before they come to your squeeze page.
I must be so, that you give content for example a video and after that the people want to know more, learn more...and they get more information by opting in. _________________ Just COPY the system from Ewen Chia. http://www.AffiliateKickstart.com
If your traffic is targeted and your main content is great, your optin rate will actually increase. I read about other marketing using this technique. I haven't use it myself yet. What a lot of marketers are doing is having one page of good content with a link at the bottom for the rest of the content. They use an open source script "orangoo.com/labs/GreyBox/" that pops up an optin box similar to a pop-in or slide-in window. _________________ Gurus Are Full Of It. Don't Buy Another Ebook.
