Isn't it incredible that a big company like Google can't figure this out!

Google wants people to belive that they are worth 2 Billion Dollars when they go public, but can't send out a check when they promise.

ClickBank's check was sent out Feb 2 and received on Feb 3, but Google???? They post on their website that the checks went out Jan 21. What a joke! It's Feb 6 and still no check!

I think we all need to move to India to get our checks!

I guess everyone got the email about the payment delay and that's why this topic seemed to die.

Is there anyone who didn't get the email from AdSense?

My only comment about this is that they could have sent that email last week and at least we wouldn't have been expecting our checks each and every day. I'm thoroughly aggravated with them over this. Do any of you who pay them for Adwords get to delay your payments for two weeks after the due date? Can you imagine the interest they collect by holding our money an extra two weeks? It's interest we DIDN'T get to collect.

It's the way of the world, I'm afraid. As a general rule, the larger companies get "free banking" at the expense of their suppliers.

I know exactly what you mean, but at least you didn't have to invest too much money, though.

Cheers,
Charlie.

Yes, I too received their email, AND IT IS STILL A BIG JOKE!!!

They say all checks went out between Feb 2 and Feb 6 and we should get out check within two weeks. What part of the US takes 2 weeks for mail to get to?

They are just setting us up for another wait......

Again, I want to point out that this check is for DECEMBER! What needed to be done to send the checks out in early January? The stats are clearly available instantly. Adwords accounts are all prepaid, so the funds were immediately available. All that was needed was to cut a check for that amount. Do they expect us to believe that these were all "hand written"?

Look at ClickBank. They paid JANUARY's commisions on Feb 2 (they 1st being a Sunday) and their check arrived on the Feb 3. They have over 10,000 publishers and hundreds of thousands of affiliates and yet had no problem paying immediately. I even received their 1099 on the 3rd.

Can anyone honestly say that Google is treating them fairly?

I agree the email should have gone out a lot earlier than it did, Google fell down badly there.

However, Clickbank has a totally different system and it isn't fair to compare Google to Clickbank ... they buy, you get a commission, they don't you don't. Clickbank has also been in the processing business for years, and while they may be good on the payment end, they are far from perfect in getting their act together on the affiliate tracking end of things.

Google audits all accounts for fraudulent activity, that takes time. While I am sure they use technology to their advantage there, there must be thousands of accounts that get flagged for personal attention. Another thing is Google doesn't "issue" the checks, they have a payment processing company do it. So Google does their thing, audit and approval, then forwards the massive files to their payment processor who then has to set up the payment and process it. It takes more time.

Something worth remembering is ... Google is very new to this, they only started 7 months ago and had overwhelming response to the program. There will be bugs to work out probably for another year until they get a system down that they can rely on.

I've noticed in the last few months that Google appears to be processing overseas accounts first (since many overseas publishers reported receiving their payments last week), then they do the US payments. I don't like that Wink but I can see why they do it that way since it can take considerably longer to get the mail.

Google's explanation of the 1099's taking up the time is certainly viable. The 1099's have to be audited and verified correct before they are issued. As much as technology helps in time savings, it still takes a considerable amount of time. Plus 1099's are required to be postmarked by the last day of January for US publishers, there is a legal deadline there Google had to comply with.

I am still waiting for money from November for affiliates in Linkshare, Befree and an independent so I don't find Google's time frame out of line. It's all relative Wink

The way I look at it is once you start getting money coming in every month, regardless if the payment is from two months ago or not, you're still getting paid every month.

That's how I was looking at it too, but when you don't GET a check every month, even though you SHOULD be getting one...when the amount you get each month fluctuates because you don't know what is working and what isn't.....when your bills and due dates don't have much leeway and you're trying to budget to pay them on time.....well, a person tends to get a little frustrated. Some of us are not at the point where we have a cushion (either multiple sources of income or maybe a two-income household), so please don't pat us on the head and act like we're just being ungrateful children because we're complaining about what is owed to us. I'm certainly not putting all my eggs in the Google basket, but that money is not "gravy" yet either.

There! Got that off my shoulders! Very Happy
